November | Beauty Empties & Mini Reviews

Sunday, December 16, 2018

I cannot believe how quickly this latter part of the year is whizzing by. It hasn't been the best year for blogging for me as you can probably tell with me only just managing to pop in and out every month or so with an Empties post and not much else. But still, something is better than nothing. As always, I am just here collating all the products I used up during November and deciding whether they're good enough to warrant a repurchase or not from me.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick - Taupe
Used this almost every day until it was used up. A great every day swipe on and blend out shade that works alone or as a base in a non-creasing and long lasting formula. I already bought me a new one.

Pixi Brow Tamer*
A simple clear brow gel that keeps brows in place all day without making them hard and crispy.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
I love this mask for an instantly brighter complexion. I use this mostly before special occasion makeup because it makes my skin so smooth and perfectly prepped.

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
Incredibly simple ingredient list that makes for the perfect cleansing, skin prepping and lightly hydrating layer that I pat into my skin or swipe over with a cotton pad. Budget friendly and effective.

Kiss Me Mommy SPF50+ PA+++
Really enjoyed this hydrating sun protection lotion that sinks right into skin without leaving even a trace of a white cast.

Skin Deva 20% Vitamin C + E
Love this lightweight watery formula that sinks in without leaving any greasiness or oily residue. Used this during the height of summer and definitely think my hyperpigmentation and dark spots not getting any darker was down to the protection of this serum.

Bilou Tasty Doughnut Creamy Shower Foam*
Delicious smelling, entertaining and affordable skin cleanser.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara
A good everyday mascara that lifts and curls lashes without adding too much volume. Great to define and separate lashes for a natural polished look.

Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser*
An affordable natural face cleanser that lightly lathers and leaves skin feeling super clean without stripping it or causing any tightness.

Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask
This isn't completely used up but I've had it years(!) and think its time I get a new tube. A good skin pick-me-up that doesn't take too long to see results.

Merumaya Mud Marvels Mask*
I like the cleansing and purifying results from the mask but I find it terribly difficult to remove once it is dry on my face. Also the tube seems to have solidified before I used it all up and I can't squeeze anymore product out.

Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin Brightening Eye Cream
A delightfully nourishing eye cream that absorbs into the eye area easily and a little goes a long way. I used this every single night and it took me way longer than the stated shelf life of 6 months.

Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask
A sophisticated formula that cleanses pores and skin leaving it looking brighter and feeling softer. Definitely a treat and not one I would splurge on without a very tempting offer.

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
I find this better as a skin cleanser rather than to remove makeup because my eye area isn't a fan. Feels and smells amazing and really is a luxurious way to cleanse your skin. Again, full price is a giant no no from me.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
This is the little bottle that gave and gave and continued to give. A beautiful oil formulation that sinks in and doesn't leave an overly greasy finish. Skin is instantly hydrated and plumped. You could easily get a more affordable version but once you try this, you get what the deal is.

Botanics Triple Age Renewal Hydrating Eye Cream
A good basic eye cream that I like to use before makeup application if it has been a while since I did my skincare routine and I need that extra hydration under my eyes to stop makeup creasing there.

Clean Apothecary Mint Brush Shampoo
My first solid brush cleanser and perfect for looking after my natural hair makeup brushes. I don't find the scent too overbearing (though with mint that's never an issue for me). This is a good way to gently clean brushes but isn't great at removing makeup stains.

Lancome Grandiose Liner
I actually love this liner with its fine tip that creates a perfect wing but I could definitely get on with my life without it. The click-y packaging is fun but doesn't lend to the product performance in my opinion.

Glossier Generation G Lipstick - Leo
I love a sheer lipstick or tinted lip balm and rely on them daily but this just wasn't pigmented enough for my lips. I get no colour pay-off on my hyperpigmented lips. And this isn't even empty, I just won't be using it anymore and its just been sitting here for no reason.

Misslyn Stay With Me Matte Fixing Spray*
This was actually okay at the job of keeping my makeup in place but did nothing to keep my skin shine-free. Maybe its because I used it mostly when the weather was warmer but I feel like every time I used this, it made me shinier than I would have been if I hadn't used this.

Good Things Manuka Honey Radiance Face Mask
Another one that isn't fully used up but its been open far too long. The brand is a very good affordable option but I feel like I've tried other masks like this that I prefer.

This Works No Wrinkles Eye Repair
It genuinely felt like this took me a lifetime to use up. It didn't help that there is no indication of how much product is left in this airless pump packaging. Aside from that, I can't say I saw any positive effect on my eye area.

Glossier Super Bounce
In all honesty, I love this serum - it is lightweight but super hydrating, doesn't leave any greasy tackiness and is one of a few hyaluronic serums that doesn't make my skin feel tight and dehydrated (ironic, I know, but it happens). The only reason why I don't recommend it is because it is so pricey for the measly 15ml you get. They should half the price or double the volume.

Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
Can't remember anything about this to comment about it which means I definitely don't need to repurchase it.

Petitefee Black Pearl & Gold Hydrogel Eye Patch
These kept slip sliding around my face. Couldn't make them sit right let alone get any hydrating benefits from them.

Hylamide High Efficiency Face Cleaner
Literally THE WORST skincare product I have ever ever tried. Its slippery, smells funky, leaves a weird film on my skin, doesn't remove makeup well even and just not a good product at all. I used the whole thing up on my legs and even that it wasn't worthy of doing. Pffft!

Charles Worthington Grow Strong Shampoo* & Conditioner*
I much prefer the Grow Gorgeous range to give me thicker looking hair. This duo did nothing for me in the thickening sense and I didn't find the shampoo cleansing enough.
