September | Empties & Mini Reviews

I return to my little blog with another round of Empties - this time recording and talking through the bits I’ve used up over the month of September.

Despite wanting to return to blogging more regularly, I’ve struggled making the time. I have so many ideas for posts and plenty of opinions to share but I just can’t seem to get back into making those posts come to life. Regardless, I’ve still been using and enjoying beauty products a-plenty. Here’s a quick run down of what I’ve gotten through and whether or not I feel they warrant a repurchase or not and why.

skincare empties, empties,

LOVED, most likely would repurchase if I haven’t done so already

Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser* - this was surprisingly good because we’ve been taught to fear the word foaming when it comes to cleansers I feel. This isn’t drying or stripping at all, leaves my face clean and fresh and rinses away easily making it my number one choice for morning cleanser when time is of the essence.

Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil* - another one I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I did. A lovely oil with a delicate frangipani scent that removes makeup easily without irritating my eyes, emulsifies just enough upon contact with water and comes off effectively with all residue, makeup and grime with a warm damp cloth.

Mango Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence - a bit of a miracle product in my books. Used this consistently and felt my skin texture change completely to plump and smooth without any issues. A great skin maintenance product that brightens and tightens so to speak.

Pixi Rose Caviar Essence* - perfect lightweight gel packed with extra hydration. Used this throughout summer to add a weightless layer of moisture to my dehydrated but oily skin.

Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream - a long time favourite that I will always repurchase. Nourishing, non-greasy and an overall delight to the senses.

Child’s Farm Conditioner - this was for my girls and always left their hair super soft and shiny after washing. I used it a few times and fell in love with the scent :)

Sanctuary Spa Purifying Charcoal Shower Burst - an incredible body cleansing product that I wish I had cracked open in the height of summer. It is instantly cooling and refreshing, coats the skin in a luscious thick foam and washes off revealing smoother softer skin. Hubby loved this so much he used it up in under a fortnight.

Essence Holo Rainbow Nail Polish* - a popular product with my girls and my niece. Pretty, sparkly and most importantly - dries almost instantly on the nails. Perfect for impatient children.

Dr. Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution - a nice relaxing treat for the muscles. I like the level of infusion so the scent isn’t overpowering or too faint.

Whamisa Organic Flowers Damask Rose Petal Mist - such a delight in the bottle and on the skin. Hydrating, soothing, lightweight, beautiful ingredients, gorgeous rose petals floating in product, a facial mist I will definitely treat myself to again.

LIKED, might repurchase if it goes on sale

Superfacialist Retinol Anti-Ageing Night Cream - I liked this rich cream. Didn’t aggravate my skin or cause any congestion. Skin felt plump & soft every morning after.

Bio Extracts Face Cream Light Intense Moisture* - loved this in every way - packaging allows perfect pump of product enough for each application. Hydrating but lightweight. Enjoyed adding own combination of boosters to bring out better in this. I’ve spotted a couple of sets on QVC that I would definitely want to indulge in.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater - I know this is hugely popular but I always found the mist a bit meh. Does the job, no frills but no extra oomph. I love the pump on this which gives a nice wide but even spray.

Dr Roebuck's FACE* - a good all rounder moisturiser. Does the job well, doesn’t do anything you don’t need it to. A bit pricey and I think it’s gone through a face lift it may be completely reformulated. Not sure at this point.

Imperial Leather Foamburst Nourishing Shea Butter & Orange Blossom - deliciously lush formula, yummy scent. Affordable but doesn’t last as long as you’d like.

Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Bath & Body Oil - lovely body oil with a gorgeous scent. I didn’t like it in the bath as it made the tub a little too slippery.

body care empties, empty products

HATED, or at least didn’t like enough & wouldn’t bother repurchasing

Cowshed Chamomile Refreshing Toner - I liked this but it’s not one I’d go out of my way to repurchase. I prefer toners with a bit more oomph.

Mahogany Naturals The Blue Lover - a lush balm but very expensive. I bought it on sale originally but have so many other balms I enjoy more now.

Biore Baking Powder Micellar Water* - used this to soak my makeup sponges. Wouldn’t use this on my face let alone my eyes which is where I tend to use micellar water.

Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner* - this is actually a lovely product and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a hydrating toner/essence that is alcohol-free. I personally prefer the original and never noticed a scent in it to be bothered by this claim to being unscented and feel the original formula is slightly better too.

Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF50+ PA+++ - I’m actually feeling conflicted over this because it’s perfect for oily skin and served me well over the summer heatwave. But because my skin is also dehydrated I found it felt a little drying some days. Additionally it leaves the slightest white cast which I always had to follow up with makeup just to cover it up. Still a good affordable option for oily/combo skin types.

Hylamide Pore Control Serum - did nothing for my pores. It’s a hydrating Serum and I guess I could never get over the name’s claim to control pores.

Blank Canvas F15 Brush* - this isn’t an empty I know but it’s going and I thought I’d mention it anyway. I enjoyed this a lot while it was still newer but it’s started shedding to the point where I would have to pick off red bristles off my face every time I used it. Didn’t have the life span I expect from brushes.

sheet mask empties,
There we have it folks. I hope you enjoyed these mini reviews. As always let me know if there's anything here you had a similar experience with or even if you found a product worked out for you differently than it did me. I hope to see you with another beauty blog post soon. If not, I'll hopefully be back in a few weeks with October Empties ;)
