March - August | Empties & Mini Reviews

Friday, September 07, 2018

Well my break from blogging went on for a lot longer than I imagined it would - even considering the fact that the break itself was completely unplanned. But I suppose thus is life. I have missed my little space on the internet full of my beauty related ramblings. Life and its many distractions have kept me happily occupied.

As has using and enjoying as many beauty products as is possible. I have held onto these empty bottles and tubes and jars for many months and feel it is finally time to document them so I can be free of all this packaging. So while this post might not be as beneficial as I would like for readers, I need to do this for my own sake, for keeping track of all the products I have used.

If you are reading and feeling less than inspired by my short comment on the almost 90 products I've used up since March this year, I'd highly recommend you check out this post 10 Tips | How I Finished 300 Products In One Year because I still use these pointers even now when it comes to how I regard and use products.

MAKEUP

THE ONES I LOVED, most likely would repurchase if I haven’t done so already

Essence Instant Volume Boost Mascara

Super affordable. Instant volume, lengthening lash drama.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow - Dark Brown

Great results just wish it lasted longer than 2 days.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm
Been through pots and pots of the stuff over the years. Love it, especially overnight.

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows - Cara (Supermodel)
Dinky little brush that combs through the right amount of product for natural looking butched up brows.

Topshop Smoke Sticks - Sphere & Trickster

Used these to the point I can’t sharpen them anymore. Long lasting, non-creasing & affordable.

Glossier Boy Brow - Black
A quick way to beef up the brows without putting in too much effort. Makes them non-crunchy.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Pressed Powder - 53 Light Beige
Favourite high street pressed powder. Much prefer this compact packaging. Don’t know why they changed it without consulting an avid fan like me.

THE ONES I LIKED, might repurchase if it goes on sale

Bobbi Brown Lip Balm SPF15
First bought this almost a decade ago & loved it. I think lip balms have come a long way since then and there’s no need to splurge. Still wouldn’t mind getting this again because it’s a nice one and it comes in a beautiful tin.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Primer

Great to use under matte foundations as it gives a beautiful glowing from within appearance to skin.

LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Slim Eyeliner

Liked it enough but dried up really quickly. Was good while it lasted. Gorgeous packaging because rose gold. You know.

Soap & Glory Brow Archery - Hot Chocolate
Ultra fine retractable brow pencil with spoolie. Still love it, just preferring the NYX Micro Brow these days.

Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara

Enjoyed this sample & liked how it made my lashes look. Not overly dramatic.

THE ONES I HATED, or at least didn’t like enough & wouldn’t bother repurchasing

Laura Geller Spackle - Mattifying
Reminds me of Benefit The Porefessional & even though I used this a lot over the YEARS that I’ve had it, I prefer more hydrating primers.

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer
Another I just won’t repurchase because I prefer different kinds of primers nowadays.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Don’t get the hype. It doesn’t do much for me.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

I don’t like this one anymore. Regret repurchasing. Much prefer brush tipped liners as they don’t drag as much and I get a more precise wing.

Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara
Literally does nothing. Was my no mascara mascara while it lasted.

Carmex Lime Twist Lip Balm
Far too greasy and oily feeling on the skin. Not nourishing enough. Scent not as yummy as it sounds.

SKINCARE

THE ONES I LOVED, most likely would repurchase if I haven’t done so already

Pyungkang Yul Mist
Lightweight, non-greasy hydrating mist. Have 2 more in back-up drawer already because its so good. Also, the misting action is even and great from this one.

Merumaya Treatment Toner

Love. This. Stuff. So good. Great way to prep & maintain soft, bright skin.

Bravura Salicylic Acid x 2
Two bottles because - summer. My skin was at its oiliest & most congested.

Templespa Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream

Such a lush, indulgent cream with a beautiful relaxing scent.

The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%

Nice hydrating formula. Affordable.

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser
A favourite skincare product of mine that thoroughly cleans and serves as a mini mask too.

By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

A gentle acid exfoliant that can be used daily.

Oskia Renaissance Mask
An amazing mask that does it all - exfoliates, cleanses, smoothens, brightens and doesn’t strip or irritate skin. The full size is pricey but thankfully I have a few more minis to work through.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil

A deliciously scented, effective and affordable cleansing oil that I’ve loved for a couple of years now.

Alpha H Liquid Gold

A super effective bordering on harsh acid treatment. Maintains skin so well even when only using twice a week.

Nuxe Creme Fraiche De Beaute

A richly hydrating moisturiser that is perfect for when my skin is super dehydrated. Does have a perfume scent though that won’t be for everyone.

Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol Treatment

A super gentle treatment that isn’t drying or irritating.

Son & Park Beauty Water

Very gentle skin prep water that I use after cleansing.

Bioderma Hydrabio Serum

This gel formula sinks right into skin and plumps it up while also layering nicely under other products.

This Works In Transit Skin Defence
A beautiful moisturiser that is lightweight but thoroughly hydrating. Perfect under makeup.

Mustela Baby SPF50+ Sun Lotion
Been through tubes of this stuff on my girls. Far too greasy for my skin (I tried and regretted it instantly) but protects their skin really well and comes with a pump. Always handy.

THE ONES I LIKED, might repurchase if it goes on sale

Glossier Super PureDoes the job really well but you only get 15ml which is just measly.

Rodial Stem Cell Cleansing Cream
A hydrating cream cleanser that I really enjoy especially in the winter when my skin is dehydrated.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum
A super expensive well formulated serum with great ingredients that I love having in my routine but would never pay full price for.

Super Facialist Neroli Firming Illuminate Eye Cream

Affordable hydrating eye cream that feels slightly firming so perfect for mornings when I need to feel more awake.

SVR Physiopure Micellar Water

A gentle formula that works perfectly well.

Pixi Glow Peel Pads

A potent exfoliating formula in pre-soaked pads. Slight tingle on skin. Doesn’t strip my skin.

Mommy UV Gel

No white cast, leaves a nice sheen on my skin & while the pump is perfect it becomes impossible to get last 1/3 product out.

Institut Esthederm Eau Cellulaire Spray

An super fine constant mist that leaves a veil of hydration. Cooling and soothing.

The Body Shop Nutriganics Softening Cleansing Gel Oil

A gel to milk cleanser that can be used to remove makeup. I preferred it as a second/morning cleanser. Skin softening and mildly hydrating.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalene

Affordable. Effective.

THE ONES I HATED, or at least didn’t like enough & wouldn’t bother repurchasing

Aurelia Miracle Cleanser

Pleasant enough but pricey for the full size. There are other cream cleansers I prefer.

Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion

Found this a little drying. Struggled to get through it.

Burt’s Bees Deep Cleansing Cream
Strongly scented.

La Roche Posay Redeemic R Eyes

Used this for a long time but can’t say I saw any difference in my under eye area.

Derma E Purifying Youth Serum

Nice light texture, used it for layering in the colder weather. Nothing overly exciting.

By Wishtrend Vitamin 75 Maximising Cream

Not hydrating enough on its own for me when my skin was severely dehydrated.

Dr. Roebuck’s Cleanse

Didn’t enjoy the scent.

Korres White Tea Fluid Gel Cleanser

Too foamy.

Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser
Felt like a basic gel cleanser. Not worth the price tag.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash

A good product but I’m not a fan of manual exfoliation on my face anymore.

HAIR & BODY

THE ONES I LOVED, most likely would repurchase if I haven’t done so already

Merumaya Hydrate & Protect Hand Cream

Beautifully rich formula with SPF so perfect for handbag.

Radox Feel Free Matcha Green Tea & Coconut Water Body Wash

Affordable and pleasant.

Soap & Glory Heel Genius
Every day staple. Love this stuff.

Weleda Skin Food

A nourishing formula that I like to use overnight for my hands.

Imperial Leather Foamburst Unicorn Marshmallow Body Wash
Fun, beautiful scent, affordable.

Etude House BeBe Foot Mask

Really effective - a gross looking 2 week journey to smooth feet.

Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle
Amazing product for adding extra moisture or when short on time.

Rituals Himalaya Scrub

Incredible scent, really effective at softening skin.

& Other Stories Body Lotions - Miami Muse & Seventh Avenue
Beautiful, unique scents, light formula that sinks quickly into skin.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Argan Richness Mask
Smells delicious and helped soften my hair.

Atrixo Hand Cream
Classic, basic hand cream. Does the job well.

THE ONES I LIKED, might repurchase if it goes on sale

Soaper Duper Shower Gel

Liked it, smelt nice but nothing special. Definitely want to try different scents though.

Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel

Amazing scent. Ran out pretty quickly.

Filorga Universal Cream

Great for the whole family. Hydrating and soothing.

Grow Gorgeous Full Bodied Volumising Shampoo

Interesting technology that I believe helps makes my hair feel thicker. Need to double wash with this to feel like it’s doing a good job of cleansing though.

Rituals Honey Touch Body Cream

Loved this but would only buy again on sale.

OGX Tsubaki Blossom Shampoo & Conditioner

Another beautiful OGX scent. Hair felt super soft after use.

Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Hand Therapy

Lovely large tube to use after washing up.

Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day
Another old favourite. That classic Original Pink scent.

Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Body Cream
Lightweight body lotion in that beautiful scent.

THE ONES I HATED, or at least didn’t like enough & wouldn’t bother repurchasing

Aussie Beach Mate Dry Shampoo
White powdery residue left all over the place. Not good.

Dr. Roebuck’s Coconut Hand Cream

Not nourishing enough for me and weird scent.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Hand & Nail Cream

Find the perfume of this too strong for me. Gives me a headache.

Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Shower Oil

Didn’t enjoy this much at all. Not as nourishing as I hoped.

Mane ‘N Tail Moisturizer-Texturizer Shampoo & Conditioner

Dried out my hair. Not impressed.

Yes To Coconut ConditionerThis lasted forever. Neither here nor there.

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Heat Protection Mist
Started off liking this but grew bored of it. Don’t even remember why now.

Hill & Noble Rose & Violet Blossom Hand Cream

Basic hand cream, not hydrating enough for my dry hands.

And that's it folks. These are all the products I've used up since March (or at least all the ones I was able to stow away the empty packaging for).
