bobbi brown long wear shadow stick taupe, charlotte tilbury instant eye palette, la splash art ki tekt eyeliner, maybelline lash sensational, daniel sandler velvet eye pencil

I’ve always been the kind of person that if I only have 5 minutes to get dressed, which is most often the case these days, I will forgo all else except my eyes. I’m happy to go about my day with no base or face makeup as long as my eyes are done and will only really add some kind of tinted lip balm to balance it all out. So for this reason I have my everyday eye look perfected with it being brightening and defining but not over the top.

The look is made up of a few components - a cream shadow base, a matte neutral/warm brown eyeshadow, an eyeliner, a pencil and a mascara. If I have some extra time I’ll pat on some concealer under my eyes to complete the look fully. Here are just some of the products I’ve been reaching for although I have enough of the same looking products that do the same jobs so I often swap them out for others but the general look will always turn out the same and I love it.

I always start with a cream shadow base and Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick - Taupe | £23 is a great one to swipe and blend out with your finger. It’s a warm beige caramel shade that works to even out my eyelids and add a little brightness to the eye area. The formula is great too because once you’ve blended it out it stays put and is a great base for any eyeshadows you place on top (though I can only vouch for this with matte shadows as I’m not having much luck with shimmers and metallics staying put without creasing).

After this I always use a lighter matte brown or soft peach shade on my lid to brighten and a slightly deeper but still fairly light matte brown in my crease to add some depth. Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette* contains 4 looks and I find myself reaching for this only to really use two shades from this entire palette from the Desk Eye section.

I don’t often add any liner to my waterline anymore these days but when I do it’s always a brown shade. I’ve been using Daniel Sandler Brown Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner | £9.95 for quite a while now and love that it stays put and doesn’t ever look too over the top or harsh. For a softer look, I would just take one of eye shadows and run that along the lower lash line instead.

I’m currently using the LA Splash ArtKiTekt Eyeliner | £11.25 and started off not really liking this because it used to leak and it sometimes had a bubble of product on the nib that burst a couple of times, splattering blobs of black liner all over my makeup. But it’s grown on me and I think now that I’ve used so much of the product up, it doesn’t leak and bubble up anymore. The brush tip makes it incredibly easy to create a very precise winger liner though you do need to make sure you wipe it off with every use as it doesn’t work well with any cream shadow or shimmer residue on it.

Finally to finish off I’ll apply mascara to my top lashes only. I went through a phase of always applying mascara to both top and bottom lashes but I just find it gives me too intense a look and so now I just apply it my bottom lashes when it’s a special occasion or if I’m doing my makeup in the evening. For day time eye looks leaving my bottom lashes clear gives me a cleaner, lighter look. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £8.99 is a good all rounder and it’s very affordable. This gives me length, volume, definition and curl to my lashes and it’s just one of the best on the market.
