best beauty products of 2017, best beauty products of the year, top skincare products of 2017, top makeup products of 2017, blossom jeju sheet masks, dhc eyeliner, nars soft matte complete concealer, klairs supple preparation facial toner, foreo luna mini 2, manyo factory galactomyces niacinamide essence, hylamide subq eyes, charlotte tilbury instant look in a palette beauty glow

This year has been such an interesting rollercoaster of a ride for me when it comes to me assessing my beauty obsession. I stopped buying anything and everything that caught my eye from the makeup stands. And I survived. I still continued to spend but bought less(ish) and bought more wisely. And I enjoyed my makeup collection more than I ever have before. I used up more products than I ever have in a 12 month period. And it’s been a liberating journey. On top of all of this I discovered some absolute gems that I know I’ll be using well into the new year, if not for years to come.

I posted my Best Beauty Discoveries Of 2017 ... So Far half way through the year and it’s nice to see some of those products made it to the end of the year with me still loving them. The ones that didn’t continue on either didn’t get used much in the latter part of the year, or I found something better and in one instance I completely changed my mind on it. So here are the best products that I’ve discovered this year and why...

SKINCARE

Blossom Jeju Camellia Soombi Sheet Masks*

I absolutely adore these sheet masks and with good reason. They fit my face exceptionally well. They are neither too saturated in serum that they’re dripping wet nor do they quickly dry out while on the skin. Of course it’s the addition of the camellia seed oil step that makes these masks as decadent and effective as they are. They hydrate my skin to the max and leave my face feeling bouncy and smooth. I could happily give up every other sheet mask and only continue to use these for the rest of my days.

Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner

This really is one of best skincare products I’ve tried, ever. This alcohol-free hydrating toner is formulated with a blend of plant extracts and helps to cleanse, refresh, balance, soothe and nourish skin. I either use this on a cotton pad to swipe all over my face after cleansing, or pat a few drops directly into my skin to maximise the hydrating results depending on how my skin is feeling, day and night. I love that you get a whopping great big bottle too.

Manyo Factory Galactomyces Niacin Special Treatment Essence

This product transformed my skin. There I said it. And now I just work on maintaining it because this did such an amazing job at plumping up, balancing and brightening my skin. Niacinamide has anti-inflammatory properties making it ideal for acne, congestion and hyperpigmentation. Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate is derived from a fungus but don’t squeal because the results are phenomenal from helping better moisturise the skin, to brightening, refining skin’s texture, reducing the appearance of pores, fighting acne and increasing elasticity and controlling sebum. I use this every couple of nights, after cleansing and toning and before serums as this is an essence and sinks right into the skin. It’s a game-changer for sure.

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid

This was my first dabble into the world of retinoids. This gentle formulation is lightweight, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or irritated at all. After using it consistently for only a couple of weeks I could feel a difference in my skin even before seeing any results. Any texture felt evened out and the surface of my skin became smooth to the touch. With more frequent and consistent use I began to notice my complexion appeared more even and brighter, with a glow about it. I would recommend this to anyone starting out on retinoid products and just as a note this has now been renamed Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion.

Hylamide SubQ Eyes

I’ve just cracked open a new bottle of this and decided it had to be on this list because it quickly became a product I would look forward to using every morning and evening. This is a peptide serum for the under eye area that helps to better hydrate the area without being heavy or greasy and works to improve the appearance of fine lines. I love that it is hydrating enough to use alone but light enough that I can layer an eye cream on top when I wish to. I don’t think I’ve seen any drastic improvement in my eye area solely based on this but I don’t know why I really enjoy using it. It must be doing something for me to keep coming back to it so eagerly too. It took me just about 3 months to get through one bottle and I already knew while I was halfway through that I wouldn’t want to be without it so that’s another good sign.

Foreo Luna Mini 2

I was lucky enough to win one of these bad boys in a giveaway hosted by one my blogging besties Liv - fashstyleliv.com/ earlier in the year. I love it and wish I had it in my life all these years. This little gadget has transformed cleansing into a little bit of a ritual for me and also can transform some pretty mundane cleansers into worthy products. The sonic pulsation can be customised to a speed to suit your skin needs. I personally find I like a harsher pulsation on my cheeks and lower part of my face but I need to use it on the lowest speed for my head and nose otherwise it gives me a headache. Either way, the results are a more thorough skin cleanse, better blood circulation and it even helps your cleanser go that much further. Oh and I’ve yet to recharge it since that first time after I received it. Awesome!

Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle

This is a very new discovery and I already know I’ll be repurchasing this and using this for a long time to come. This body moisturiser is a completely unique and innovative concept to me because, unlike an in-shower body conditioner which you would rinse off, you apply this to wet skin and dry off directly with a towel without rinsing. Not only does it save me a lot of time in my shower routine, it really does keep my skin moisturised for a long time. It is one of those products that now that I’ve tried it, there’s no way I will be able to live without it.

MAKEUP

DHC EX Eyeliner Pen

This eyeliner quickly climbed the ranks to become one of my favourite liquid liners. Why? The felt tip allows easy application, glides on without much effort and makes for very precise winging out. The formula is super black and stays put all day. It is identical to the brush end of the mighty Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen and performs just as well, for a fraction of the cost. I’ve just used up my first one and have a couple of back-ups in stock because this is a product I will no longer be able to live without.

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

If you hate pot concealers, I have a feeling this will surprise you as well as it has surprised me. I find it to be a good everyday concealer with a creamy texture offering coverage and staying power. Don’t be fooled by the name because this isn’t as drying as you might assume and has a lot of movement, making it easy to pat on and blend quickly on my under-eye area. Most days, if I can’t be bothered with any other base product, I will get by with just this and a touch of powder to set it in place.

Topshop Smoke Sticks

I mean, if the current state of them doesn’t prove just how much I love them and how much I’ve reached for them, I don’t know what will. These little cream shadow sticks are so quick and easy to use, can be blended out for a more sheer wash of colour or packed on for a little more intensity and they stay put without creasing all day. I love the everyday neutral shades I have and couldn’t choose between them as both the matte and the shimmery options work just as well as each other. Best of all, these are super affordable and I won’t hesitate to replace them once they become little stumps.

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette - Beauty Glow

Earlier in the year I got Natural Beauty and while I still use that palette and love it, I knew that Beauty Glow would steal my heart. Even though I got this relatively recently it’s definitely the best palette I’ve added to my collection this year. I love every shade in this, even the bronzer which is a touch light for me but still works very subtly on my skin tone. The glowing finish this palette gives me is so beautiful and achieved so easily within a few minutes, so I believe the name of this palette is perfectly fitting. I love that everything that I need is here in one palette and is perfect for travelling with which means I've been able to take it around with me to do makeup for members of my family too.

Glossier Boy Brow

Fuller brows in an instant. Just like everyone claimed. I was not disappointed after I finally got my hands on this dinky little number. The whipped pomade is just light enough to coat the brows without making them crispy but pigmented enough to give the illusion of naturally full brows. I love that I can use this without a full face of makeup and it doesn’t make my brows appear odd or out of place. I’m glad I bought myself a back-up as soon as I tried it too because I know I’ll be needing it very soon.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator - Gilded Honey*

For a long time I thought it was just hype. The name is beautiful. The design is hypnotic. And the hype was unavoidable. That was until I tried it and I’m kicking myself for not trying this out sooner. This highlighter is that perfectly balanced gold shade that doesn’t lean too bronze or too yellow. It is super fine and leaves a film of shimmer on the skin without looking chunky. It reflects the light in such a gorgeous way that almost makes the skin appear wet. If you’re after that luminous, youthful glow, you will want to check this little pretty out.

Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Crease Brush

A very recent addition to my brush collection but one that I knew instantly was the very brush I’ve been searching for for years. This is a super soft blending brush that picks up eyeshadow really well and because it is slightly tapered, it makes it really easy to apply the powder exactly where you want and blend it out without disrupting any other shadows or going too far up towards my brows. It is just fluffy enough to work as a blending brush and stiff enough to give me control to apply the colour to the crease. For my eye shape this is the one and I’ll probably be picking up a couple more of these.
