Empties & Mini Reviews | August

Monday, September 04, 2017

I always get asked how I manage to use up so many products each month. And I'll tell you - It's because I'm constantly using products. Morning, night, afternoon, evening. Except for the time that I'm asleep, I am always using something or another on my skin, my hair, my body, my lips etc. Another reason why I've been using up so much is because I am still working on using up a lot of products that I started using many a moon ago that are half full, or half empty already. On top of this, I am no longer afraid of using things up. One of the worst things about being a beauty addict and hoarder combined is that it can be terrifying coming close to the end of a product you love, but I've gradually overcome this and actually now enjoy using a product up entirely as it's a sign of how much I love it.

So there you have my secrets of how I get through so many products each month, now onto the empties and mini reviews :)

THE ONES I WILL DEFINITELY REPURCHASE

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

Best micellar water on the market. Period. I repurchase this giant bottle and refill my reverse pump Bioderma bottle which just makes life a little easier.

Merumaya Treatment Toner

I love this stuff and consider it one of my holy grail skincare products. I won't go into much detail here as I've reviewed it fully but I use this every morning and have a couple of back-ups in storage. It's that good!

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti Ageing Cream

Weird texture to begin with but once you get past that it's a luscious cream that I enjoyed thoroughly. Smells sweet and I have me a back-up. Yay!

Burts Bees Cleansing Oil

Liked this more than I thought I would. Sweet smelling and did the job really well without irritating the eyes or leaving a weird film.

Rodial X-Treme Acid Rush Peel

Love this for a quick brightening treatment. Gel, slap on, slightly tingling. Wash off to reveal brighter skin.

CosRX Acne Pimple Master Patch

A great product to keep in the stash for random breakouts. I find them most effective for when you cheekily pop that pimple - place one of these on top and it helps heal the exposed wound and lessens the scarring.

Weleda Skin Food

The best overnight hand mask for severely dry hands.

Being by Sanctuary Spa Water Lotus & Pomelo Hand Cream

Delicious scented hand cream that is hydrating and non greasy.

I also used up:

Heel Genius

Skinfood Ginseng Sheet Mask

TonyMoly Pureness 100 Red Ginseng Mask Sheet

& Other Stories Lip Balm

Mimitika Facial SPF50+

THE ONES I MIGHT CONSIDER REPURCHASING (basically if they go on sale)

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm

I really like this but would struggle to purchase a full size for the price as there are a few others I love that are far more affordable. I still really enjoy the texture of this and the scent. No weird film on skin and leaves the skin super soft.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

I like it. I enjoy using it. The scent is delicious albeit it very warm and wintery. But I don't see much difference in results from the Ren Glycolactic which is just as effective, with less mess.

Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask

Again, another one I wouldn't mind using again but I much prefer the Pixi Glow Mud which shows me what it's doing and extracting from the skin as it dries.

Babor Skinovage Daily Moisturizing Cream*

Quite a lovely silky textured cream. Sufficiently hydrating and skin plumping.

Prismoligie Hand Cream & Foot Cream

The hand cream is one of the most hydrating while being non-greasy I've tried. The scent of the foot cream is to die for. Beautiful products.

Sukin Oil Balancing Purifying Gel Cleanser & Clarifying Facial Tonic

Simple, no frills, no nasties skincare that does the job. Nothing terribly exciting about them.

I also used up:

Caudalie Micellar Water

The Ordinary NMF+HA

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Soap & Glory Orangeasm

Milatte Aloe Panda Sheet Mask

THE ONES I NEVER WANT IN MY LIFE AGAIN, NEVER NO WAY!

Skin Chemists Aqua Repair Hydrating Serum

Didn't do much for my skin. It smells nice but that's about it.

Amie Cleanser & Moisturiser

Not for me at all. They reminded me of skincare I used as a teenager - very no frills, not exciting and not at all pleasurable to use.

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser

Hated this. Admittedly I rarely use manual exfoliators these days but this is so harsh and gritty. I much prefer the granules to be smaller and less abrasive.

Ren Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream

A generous sample of a cream that doesn't sink in. Just no!

Clarins Hand Cream

Beautiful cream but the scent made me gag. It's a very old fashioned grown up smelling sort of scent that gave me a head ache.

Caudalie Body Butter

A bit blah. Not very hydrating at all.

Givenchy Live Irresistible Delicieuse

So glad I tried this sample instead of buying the full size straight away as I had planned. This is very strong and not as sweet as I'd hoped.

Elizavecca EPG Mask

The cleanser in this is so stripping that it just marred the rest of the experience for me. I shall be using the other pack I have up without touching the cleanser portion.

Do you enjoy mini reviews or do you think more detailed reviews would be more helpful? Do you take part in any Project Pans? Have you ever done one? I'd love to know...

  1. That intro is what I've been waiting to hear for a long time!! Proud of you! I am fond of the Superdrug Vitamin E micellar water but I really want to give that Simple one a go. I hate it when a product is good but the scent is too horrific so it makes the product go down as a bad one, that's the worst!!

  2. I think these are interesting because you get to hear about a lot of products you wouldn't otherwise, and the 'wouldn't repurchase' section is helpful too! I think I have the Rodial peel from an advent box so will look for that! I've got a Murad travel set too but honestly I don't even want to open it, I've read so many negative reviews on them. I've seen Amie skincare a lot on instagram too so that was interesting. I really need to do a project pan with all the body creams I've gathered xx

  8. OMG, thank you for saying it out loud, Sal because I have the same ridiculous fear. I don't know why I am so afraid of using up products because they should be used up and I can always repurchase. LOL!

I thank heaven the day Mr. Platt bought that Corsx pimple patch, seriously it's the best thing ever!

  9. I feel the same way and I am always sad when I finish a product, I even keep my empties in a large box for a long time before deciding to throw them away! It's like I don't want to not have them, weird haha!! But it's always amazing how you end up finishing products, I rarely do, I think I only did one empties post :)

  13. So many great products as usual, I think I need to think of using products up the way you do, it's definitely a good sign if you've managed to used them up. I really want to try the Merumaya toner and possibly a couple of their other products.

  15. I've adapted your method of thinking now too! I used to be afraid of finishing up products and would keep the littlest amount around. This month my goal is to finish 30 products so I can freakin' toss them lol. The cosrx pimple patches a life saver! I also find them more effective when I pop pimples. They also help with bringing the pimples to a head.
