review kiko 20th anniversary collection, kiko fall 2.0 collection review and swatches, kiko review, kiko limited edition collection 2017

So summer never really did arrive here in the UK. We had a brief encounter with some sunshine but that's a long forgotten memory and to be honest, I'm fine with it. I'm quite ready for Autumn to grace us with all it's charms. One such a charm comes from one of my favourite high street brands who have got yet another enchanting limited edition collection lined up.

Fall 2.0 is inspired by Venice, with its regal and mysterious allure and shimmering dreamy canals. The midnight blue packaging laced with gold pays homage to the city, looking both luxuriously classic and modern simultaneously. The collection contains:

  • A foundation, baked bronzer, bronzing duo, blush duo, highlighter
  • An eye base, magnetic eyeshadow, a mascara, metallic eyeliner
  • Lipsticks in two finishes, matte and metallic lip pencils, a lip gloss
  • A kabuki brush, a blush brush, a pochette
  • An eye contour mask
Here are my top picks from what I've tried from the collection:

KIKO Fall 2.0 Baked Bronzer - 01 Warm Melange* | £22.90

This oversized compact is my favourite product from the collection. Resembling a Tom Ford Bronzer in its grandeur, this product contains a whopping 20g baked bronzer swirled with super fine illuminating particles. It has a very pleasant sweet scent and gives an even bronze glow to the skin. The formula isn't chalky or patchy and is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E. It is a touch powdery with a bit of kick-back when you place the brush in the pan but nothing to detract from the beauty and performance of the product. I have been using this on my cheeks with no additional blusher because this gives my complexion a natural glowing hint of colour, making it the perfect product to accompany a nude makeup look which I am more inclined to. This isn't a sculpting product but is perfect for adding a natural looking sunkissed touch to the skin. This also comes in a slightly darker shade too.

KIKO Fall 2.0 Duo Bronzer - 01 Bright Life* | £15.90

I didn't think I would like this one because the oversized baked bronzer impressed me so much but I can quite confidently say I love this little bronzing and highlighting duo. Its nice to have a matte bronzer paired with a shimmering highlighter because often these kits come with a chalky matte highlight shade that I never make use of. The bronzer is on the warm side and is a lovely shade to add some warmth and dimension to the face. The highlighter is very pretty and although I need to use a tiny little brush to pick up the product, it gives the high points a gorgeously attractive sheen. This pink toned highlight has the elegance of higher end highlighters in that there is no detectable shimmer in it. The powders are very creamy and have a flattering blurring effect on the skin that I appreciate. This will be a nice, less intense alternative to the Sleek Contour Kit I love so much.

KIKO Fall 2.0 Magnetic Eyeshadow - 01 Over The Taupe* | £12.90

I remember when I first saw these magnetic shadows online and became obsessed with the design and idea behind it. Yes, this is a bit of a gimmick and really only you can appreciate it when you open up the pot to apply the product, and have a couple of minutes of fun messing it up and then pressing it back to this mesmerising wavy pattern, but it is such a cool product and appears so striking on the eyelids. It is a highly pigmented loose glitter that I find works best when applied by packing it onto the lids with a brush for a full coverage application The base is a beautiful taupe shade that appears almost lilac in some lights and is combined with multicoloured micro-glitter. I wouldn't reach for this in the daytime as it is a little intense although it would work perfectly for evening makeup as the sparkles would catch and reflect the light beautifully. Also, the amount of fun to be had with the magnetic packaging and pearls needs no further explanation.

KIKO Fall 2.0 Eyeliner - 01 Future Is Gold* | £8.90

I haven't used a metallic eyeliner is about 5 years and I've not really given them much thought until now. My memories of glitter liner involve stiff applicators, chunky glitter particles and messy results. I am so glad this product rekindles none of the above experiences. The applicator is flexible making it easier to apply and allows a good amount of precision. This had a very bold metallic finish and doesn't need a lot of building up. It takes a while to dry down but once its dry, it doesn't crumble off or fade too quickly. This comes in four shades but of course this gold is my favourite and I look forward to putting it to good use the next time I attend a party.

KIKO Fall 2.0 Mascara* | £12.90

I love mascaras in general and it takes a pretty abysmal mascara to disappoint me because I am thankfully blessed with good lashes. I only really look for a mascara that volumises my lashes so anything else is a welcome addition and this mascara doesn't disappoint at all. It has the cutest little brush ever and thickens the lashes without clumping. I am of those that most often apply mascara to my lower lashes and this dinky little brush makes that job so much easier. I am eager to see if this mascara ages well because I generally do prefer drier mascaras but in the meantime I am enjoying it enough and the packaging is just about as luxe as I'd like for a mascara.

Overall I am impressed with this collection and am pleased it includes so many things that I can use for a long time to come. I generally find myself drawn to KIKO's Limited Edition collections and feel like this one has a good range of shades and products and will definitely have something for everyone. The packaging is gorgeous and even though the baked bronzer is absolutely massive, I will be keeping it close by me for sure ;)
