face.co.uk review, best uk site for makeup brushes and beauty products

I am definitely an online shopper because I barely get time to go into stores anymore the way I used to. And I love coming across new sites to shop from that offer a good selection of products, have a reliable and fast shipping service and offer an overall pleasant experience. I was contacted by face.co.uk to try out their site and service and I'm happy to say they will be my first port of call when it comes to makeup brushes and accessories. This beauty site stocks some of the most popular makeup brush brands such as Beauty Blender, Real Techniques and Look Good Feel Better. They also stock some smaller brands that are making waves on social media such as Beau Belle and Unicorn Lashes. Here's what I have been trying out from this fabulous site:

Japonesque Velvet Touch Eye Brushes*

This brush set comes with the only four brushes you really need to do simple everyday eye makeup. Upon opening I did notice a significant amount of shedding especially from the two blending brushes, which is a shame because their shapes are perfect. They are not as soft as you'd like, especially for the eye area but I have been using them and have been able to blend out my shadows with relative ease. I assumed from the name the brush bristles would be super soft, but I'm thinking the Velvet Touch only refers to the brush handles, which look super sleek and stylish. Overall I am glad to have this little set of brushes for my eye makeup and brows and I appreciate that they are small making them ideal to travel with. Face.co.uk stock a wide range of Japonesque brushes for those of you interested in this Japanese-inspired brand of professional quality makeup brushes, including the gorgeous Kumadori collection.

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel*

Looking after your precious makeup brushes is of the utmost importance and this begins with keeping them clean. I like to deep clean my brushes at least once every two weeks, once weekly if I can make the time. It's actually a chore I really enjoy and I make the most of by slapping on a face mask and having those few minutes away from the world ;) This brush cleansing gel from everyone's favourite drugstore brush brand is a non-alcoholic brush conditioning cleanser. You only need a tiny amount to swirl your brush into, and it quickly works to remove every trace of makeup and residue. You simply rinse off and your brushes are refreshed and renewed. While a designated brush cleanser isn't necessary, and you can easily make a concoction of your own, I am glad to have this product in my life right now because it means I can focus on the cleansing part for longer.

Oh and the best part - literally music to any online shopping addict's ears - every UK order is sent via Royal Mail 1st Class so you will receive your order really quickly. Mine arrived the next morning! And if you spend over £75 your order will automatically be upgraded to RM Special Delivery/DPD which is such an awesome perk. International shipping is also available.

Check out face.co.uk for all your makeup brush needs and have a browse of their brands and products. They have something for everyone - the seasoned makeup and beauty junkie to the beginner looking for essentials to get started.

What is your favourite place to shop for makeup brushes? Do you have a favourite brush brand? What do you use to cleanse your brushes? I'd love to know...

  1. It's a shame that the brushes aren't as soft as you hoped for - I would have thought that the name referred to the softness too! I must try the cleansing gel - I use a MooGoo body was at the moment for cleaning my brushes! There are some great brands on this site! xx

  2. I became an online shopper when I had my first kid, too. Browsing the shops with the little ones isn't as fun as it was before hand. But I can't remember the last time I actually bought brushes online, I think it was years ago.

  15. That's a bit sneaky for them to name them velvet touch and then be referring to the handles rather than the actual bristles!!
