Empties & Mini Reviews | May

Last month I was thinking of not continuing with these Empties posts but so many of you guys told me how much you appreciate them and look forward to them that I'm back at it again! :) And thankfully this month there is a huge number of things I would repurchase which is great. Nothing worse than having to force myself to use up a whole bunch of things that I don't enjoy using and then come onto here to have a right rant about it all...

To keep things a little more exciting for me to write, I will only be giving short reviews on notable products in each category. But I will list what I have used up and link in a previous blog post if there is one.

THE ONES I WILL DEFINITELY REPURCHASE (if I haven't done so already)

Soap & Glory The Rushower is a new obsession, so much so that before I used up this travel size can I went out and bought 2 full sized ones. I don't generally get along with dry shampoo - they always leave white streaks and feel weird in my hair and on my scalp. But this is the answer to my greasy roots prayers. It doesn't leave that dreaded white cast, lifts and volumises the roots, and freshens my hair wonderfully. Also it smells incredible!

Rodial Stemcell Super-Food Cleanser is a cleanser and mask in one. You can use it as a cream cleanser after removing your makeup for a nourishing cleanse or you can apply a generous layer and leave it on for 15 minutes for a hydrating mask. The scent is very delicate and it leaves the skin feeling clean and nourished and I already have a couple of back-up tubes of it because I love it so much.

Oskia Renaissance Mask is the best, most effective mask I've come across for when I don't have the time to indulge in the full triple masking routine. This does a great job of exfoliating the skin and revealing a naturally glowing complexion, helps clear the skin of impurities and build up in pores while hydrating and plumping the skin.

Pixi Overnight Glow Serum is one that I've been using on and off for over a year now. I don't use it daily but rather I reach for this when my skin is looking seriously dull. It works overnight to exfoliate the skin and I swear I wake up to fresher looking skin every time. The dropper is completely useless with a thick gel formula like this but otherwise a great product that would work on most skin types.

I also used up and loved:

Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm
Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer
Original Source Vanilla & Sweet Almond Oil Body Butter
Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo
Soap & Glory Hand Maid
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Spray

THE ONES I MIGHT CONSIDER REPURCHASING (basically if they go on sale)

Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Cream smells delicious...it's so unfair it isn't edible because it smells like a Bounty Bar! I liked this thick foot gel but it didn't wow me but it didn't disappoint me either. I just prefer Soap & Glory Heel Genius which does a better job at hydrating and healing my feet whereas this is just a thick moisturiser.

I really enjoyed using Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa which is a light-weight burst of hydration for the skin. I've actually been using this during the day and my dehydrated oily/combo skin has been loving it for its ability to hydrate without being too rich. It has such a lovely light skincare scent and the almost gel-like formula sinks right into the skin.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil is exactly what it says on the tin. Its a no frills rose hip oil. I enjoyed using it but there's something more pleasing about using the Boots Botanics one or the Trilogy ones that I just prefer. Still this does the job and I used it up on my girls to help with eczema and post-injury scarring. It has a great price point too.

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water is one that I purchased just for the reverse pump and although I enjoyed using the product, I don't see how its worth the price if I'm honest. There are so many affordable micellar waters available now that you really don't need to be spending this much just because it's iconic and renowned. I have already bought a bottle of my beloved Simple Micellar Water to refill this reverse pump bottle with.

I also used up:

The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream

I don't actually hate Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder and this is a repurchase. But I've just discovered other setting powders that work better for me. This is a good powder for setting under-eye concealer because it melts into the skin and keeps things locked in place without being detectable but for me it never worked on my face. It always looked patchy and clung to dry patches. It is quite sad to say goodbye to a product I've been using for 2 years but it just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream smells incredible but I could never get it to absorb into the skin easily. I tried patting, rubbing, circular motions, upward swipes and every way it was a struggle to get the cream to absorb. After some work it does and then its all good but for me, I just don't enjoy having to put so much effort into it.

The Body Shop Spiced Apple Shower Gel was from their xmas line and I didn't realise they had changed the scent from Glazed Apple because that was a more fruity scent and this one is very warm spicy. I really just didn't enjoy the scent much and found myself forcing myself to use it up.

Is there anything here you love/hate using? Do you spot anything you'd love to try? I'd love to know...
