superdrug haul, boots haul, victorias secret tease flower perfume, real techniqies mini sponge set

I'd been walking around super proud of myself for not purchasing any new beauty products for a few weeks. Even without making a fake vow with myself I had somehow not found myself ordering anything online and it was amazing. Then I read Beautylymin's review of the Ben Nye Luxury Powder, ordered it that very morning...which then apparently meant it was okay for me to carry on spending on more things I don't actually need. I have no control! Anyway, I'm super excited to have so many new goodies to play with so here's what I've purchased in the last week...

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder | £13.50

If you read my recent blog post about my Powder Collection, you will know that I am a pressed powder gal as I'm too afraid of the mess I could potentially make with loose powders. Having used this for a week I can say I am pleasantly surprised how relatively mess-free it actually is (okay so I dropped the lid full of powder onto the carpet twice when I went to get some product out!) and I am really enjoying using it. My one gripe is that it is very yellow and not quite as brightening as I would like, but so far so good in terms of no creasing and giving me a flawless finish.

SUPERDRUG

I no longer creepily scout the aisles of Superdrug like I used to looking for good offers on products I don't even need as much as I used to. I tend to only go in with a specific product in mind to avoid buying unnecessary things. But last week, I wanted to just have a good old browse, come what may.

I remembered that Leanne over at LPageBeauty had posted about the new Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Acid Pads recently so I went looking for those. Sadly my Superdrug didn't have them in yet but I couldn't not take advantage on the BOGOF offer so I repurchased 2 more Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Peels. This tiny tube contains a wonderfully gentle but potent mix of fruit acids and enzymes to refine and renew skin overnight. I also had to try the new Garnier Moisture Boost Soothing Camomile Tissue Mask just to see if its as good as it's sister...though paying full price for it will of course cause me to judge this quite harshly. Haha! Finally, I couldn't leave the store without getting this pack of cuteness upon cuteness because I love the Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges and this Real Techniques 4 Mini Miracle Complexion Sponges set was far too cute to resist. I mean, look at them...so cute!

TOPSHOP

I am a cream shadow junkie and I love a good swipe and simple blended out eye look. And I'd seen these nude eye shadow sticks online and couldn't wait to see if they would be any good. I've been using these for the past few days and I am obsessed with how low maintenance they are and how effortlessly blended they look on the eyes, they don't crease or budge and all I wish for them is that they didn't need sharpening. Topshop Matte Smoke Stick - Sphere is a beautiful creamy matte shade to rival my beloved Maybelline Creamy Beige that I will be using all over the lid as a base or indeed as a single sweep of colour. .Topshop Smoke Stick - Trickster is a beautiful bronze gold that looks great for everyday and really sheers out for just a hint of shimmer. I think for £6.50 each, these are a bit of a bargain.

BOOTS

I had a wonderful day out in Westfield with my sister at the weekend and of course no trip to Westfield is complete without a browse in Boots. I squealed with excitement when I saw that the
Hylamide Serums were all 1/3 off because I have wanted to try these for a while now. I haven't had much luck with the latest Deciem brand The Ordinary, with only one or two of those products actually impressing me so I am interested to see if this branch of the Deciem tree has something more to offer me.

Mainly I wanted Hylamide SubQ Eyes Advanced Serum which is meant to be really great for signs of ageing and dealing with dark circles. I have read some reviews saying this burns their eyes but since it's on offer and I've wanted to try it for so long, I am willing to give it a go. Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum is another serum which is raved about and comes highly recommended. According to the packaging it contains hyaluronic complexes and next generation peptides to help with hydration and the appearance of ageing skin. I also opted for the Hylamide Booster Low-Molecular HA Serum since I am finding The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid so underwheming. This contains 5 types of hydrating factors for a serum that claims to achieve multi-layer hydration. I am looking forward to giving them all a go and hope these will be effective on my skin.

VICTORIA'S SECRET

Finally, my most random and most unnecessary purchase comes in the form of this ridiculously adorable bottle. I don't know about you guys but my sister and I are obsessed with Victoria's Secret fragrance products and can't help but sniff all their scents and linger in the bath and body section for as long as possible without becoming completely intoxicated. That's how I came across this cuter than cuteness itself Victoria's Secret Tease Flower Eau De Parfum.

I fell in love with this bottle before I did the scent but honestly this scent is so perfect for me I just had to get it. A touch floral with warm sweet delicious notes, fun and flirty and I haven't stopped using it since I bought it. It contains notes of sugar orchid, springtime tulips and whipped vanilla cream making it my ideal scent and perfect for this time of year. I am tempted to go back and get the rollerball, spritz and body lotion!!! But I'm just being extra (but seriously I do hope a certain someone reads this post and takes heed - we know he won't lol!).

What have you bought recently? Is there anything here you'd love to try? I'd love to know...

  3. Awesome post! i always find that banana powder is good on people with a medium tan complexion as it doesnt wash them out and brightens their skin i think anyone pale or lighter than medium skin tone it doesnt really work i would just go with an off white powder with a little pink in it that would work better

  8. This is a great haul, I've been curious about the Hylamide products for a while so I look forward to your thoughts on this. I love the look of the Topshop smoke sticks too, but I definitely agree it's a shame they don't sharpen themselves.

  10. That's a real bummer that the ordinary products haven't worked out too well for you. So far I've tried 4 and have found 2 winners, 1 meh, and 1 useless product. Hope you have better luck with Hylamide!

The RT sponges are so cute! I keep meaning to pick up some of the ones from their newer collection but always forget. The marble diamond always tempts me!

Hope the garnier sheet mask is a winner :)

  19. I do own the Ben Nye Banana setting powder and I've been obsessed since I picked it up. Comparing it to the Sacha buttercup powder (that YouTube made me buy), I like how light it is - it really brightens up my undereye and makes me look a lot more awake. Thanks for sharing your purchases with us Sal! x
