March | Empties & Mini Reviews

Wednesday, April 05, 2017

3 months already gone...! And as predicted, I didn't get through as many products this month as I did over the last couple of months. Regardless, I am still sticking to using things up and not chopping and changing too much. Here are my March Beauty Empties and a little about my experience with them.

The Ones I'll Definitely Repurchase

Boots Botanics Semi-Permanent Hair Colour - Dark Red | £4.49

I have to start with the most exciting because for the first time in my life I coloured my hair. It was such an experience and I am obsessed with the results. Apart from the strong scent, I loved every moment and every bit of mess because it was such an empowering experience for me. It made me feel awesome and cool and I love how beautiful my hair is right now. On my dark brown hair, the red really only shows properly in sunlight, but I wanted to do something discreet that would make me feel awesome without being drastic. A few weeks on and the colour is still in my hair which is impressive too. I can't wait to do it again.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - 30ml | £4.50

I finally got around to trying this iconic cleansing oil that is heralded as one of the best on the market. I opted for the mini which is the perfect way to try it out. I love the formula which is thick without being overly rich, it melts away makeup wonderfully and leaves my skin feeling super soft and hydrated. I don't like this mini packaging for the way it dispenses the product because its a tiny hole in the top and I have to shake the bottle for ages to get enough product out so I would definitely opt for the larger bottle with the convenient pump next time.

Merumaya Treatment Toner | post | £15.50

I've crowned this one of the best skincare products I have ever tried and with good reason. This hybrid solution hydrates and softens the skin while helping to rejuvenate the complexion. I use this after cleansing in the mornings to prep my skin for the day ahead. It helps keep my skin clear, hydrated and smells lush too. My skin looks better and behaves better when I use this and I don't feel like I've done a complete routine when I skip this toner. Love this. Will forever repurchase.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist | post | £10

Over the years, I have been through bottles of this mist and is one that I find myself reaching for more and more these days since my skin is so dehydrated. This bottle is in the previous packaging and design because I had stocked up and this winter it didn't take me long to get through it. I like the amount and strength of the mist which does a fairly wide spritz and coats the face nicely. I love the delicate rose scent and how it instantly hydrates my skin. In the colder weather, I found myself spraying this every time I passed my dresser.

Dames & Dimes Peppermint Salt Scrub* | post | £10.95

This scrub just got better and better with time...why? Because silly old me didn't realise all the wonderful oils that make this so luscious were sitting at the bottom of the tub and so when I mixed it all up, it became an even more skin softening treat. It smells delicious and leaves my skin supple and silky smooth. Next time I will definitely give it a stir before every use.

Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara | £3.30

I can't believe I've never spoken about this incredible mascara on my blog before. It is SO good - curls, volumises and lifts my lashes better than most other mascaras I've ever tried. I know so many people who love this and swear by it and it only costs as much as a supermarket meal deal! It gets a little clumpy as time goes on but other than that I find it doesn't smudge or crumble and is a budget beauty gem.

Soap & Glory Hand Food | £2.50

Hand cream is a MUST in my life and this is one that I've always gone back to. It has that signature S&G scent that I've always been addicted to. It is a lovely cream that doesn't leave me with greasy mitts and one that I will always keep in my stash.

Sheet Masks

I loved all of these masks and would happily use them all again. No odd ones here! My faves that I have gone on to repurchase are the Soo Ae Freeset Donkey Milk Mask and Bonvivant Mask which fit my face wonderfully and really helped plump up my skin. I will definitely be getting some more Skin Republic Sheet Masks and of course the Garnier Moisture Bomb ones too.

The Ones I Might Like To Use Again

Liq CC Serum Rich* | post | £17.90

This Vitamin C serum also contains Vitamin E making it great for dry/dehydrated skin providing antioxidant protection and hydration. I enjoyed using this over the last few months, and found that it helped my skin look brighter over time. It is very rich and one dropper full was enough to cover my face and neck and I could've left moisturiser out if I wanted to. I am not a huge fan of the scent and did find the serum oxidised over time.

L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim Intense Black | post | £6.99

Although I had my reservations of this super hyped up eyeliner, I instantly fell in love with it. I was able to achieve a very precise winged eyeliner look quickly and with ease. The formula is incredibly black and long lasting and the nib really allows a lot of control. Sadly, it didn't last very long. It dried out after only a month or so of use. My Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner is still going and I've had that much longer and used it many more times than this. I would still repurchase in a sale but the fact that it dried out so quickly has been a bit of a downer on an otherwise perfect product.

The One That's Not For Me

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask | £30 full size

This natural hair mask is enriched with rosehip and sweet almond oils and is meant to help lack-lustre hair retain moisture and look and feel healthier. I actually really liked this at first and found my hair to feel incredibly smooth and soft after use. The problem that I have is that it left my hair drier and frizzy and made it look terrible and out of control. I don't know why because this promises so much goodness but doesn't work on my locks. Its a shame, so sadly not for me.

Do you spot any favourites or fails here for you? Have you changed your mind about something that you once loved/hated recently? I'd love to know...
