It's no secret that I love makeup but I don't consider myself a makeup collector. I'm not one of those people that rushes out to get my hands on every single limited edition piece that's released. I don't feel the need to try every new product and I don't like to collect every single shade of anything. But I do like investing in products that I will get a lot of use out of and usually it will be something I've thought about for a long time, researched and saved up for.

Thanks to a bulky buggy and lots of little sticky fingers, its not often that I get to go out to the beauty counters and have a good swatch and feel of things which is why most of my purchases are made online. But over the last few weeks I've had the opportunity to shop alone and I have to admit it's been refreshing and exhilarating. And it's through encounters of this kind that I've come home with two products that I can wholeheartedly say I'm glad I splurged on.

Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen - Deeper | £43

I know, I know...the price of this liquid liner is eye-watering and I won't pretend that it's not ridiculous. When I went out and got this I knew I wanted to come home with something I would use a lot and enjoy using and really, this ticks those boxes for me easily. I've got a handful of high-end blushers, for example, that rarely ever get used and just sit there giving me the pleasure of me owning them rather than from using them often. As long as this eyeliner doesn't dry out prematurely and lasts as long as people claim it does, I know I'll be getting enough use out of it to justify the amount of money I spent. And I love that I know I will use this loads because I use liquid liner almost every time I do my makeup. But really, it is just an eyeliner pen and there are so many amazing ones out there so what makes this one special?

It is the blackest liquid liner I have ever come across, the level of blackness I've only seen in gel form. It is super long-lasting on the eyes which is great for me as I usually get smudged liner after a few hours or a nap (don't judge...I'm an exhausted mumma). I've worn this from anywhere between 5 - 12 hours and it looked the same from first application to the moment before I cleansed. It is double ended with a very long and thin brush end perfect for applying a perfect line across the lid and a more dense, pointed and firm felt tip for precise flicks and wings in any style you desire. If you are someone who struggles with getting a perfect winged liner, then you should think about investing in this. The pen is also very weighted and long which can be a pro as it helps maintain control and also a con if you need to stand super close to the mirror as I do ;)

Aside from the sexy packaging, this eyeliner is special and different to any other I've tried. Even compared to the amazing Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner, which I crowned as the best all these days, this is blacker and longer-lasting, and makes applying liner perfectly every time a breeze making it a worthy investment and something I will enjoy using every time I pick it up.

Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Finish - Medium | £33

It was only a few months ago that I got my hands on my first Charlotte Tilbury products (See full haul post here) and it's safe to say I fell head over heels for the luxury they emit and of course the quality of the products. I've heard so many great things about this powder but still had my reservations given that the price tag is pretty hefty for a powder and I swear by a number of great ones that can be bought at Boots or Superdrug for a fraction of the cost.

Long story short, I gave in a couple of weeks ago thanks to a violent polite nudge by the lovely @Beaussima and I haven't been able to stop singing the praises of this powder since. It is as finely milled as you'd like and melts into makeup and skin beautifully. It doesn't sit on top or cling onto any dry flakes or patches. It mattifies the skin whilst letting some of the natural glow of the skin through - the makeup is matte but the complexion doesn't lose any dimension. The blurring effect whereby pores (and mine are gigantic) appear less prominent and the skin looks flawless makes this powder incredibly special. I am able to go 4 - 5 hours without needing to touch up which is pretty impressive, although currently nothing is working to keep my nose shine-free. And I love that the slight tint in the powder helps keep everything looking seamless. If you are struggling to find a setting powder that doesn't look cakey or ashy or unnatural, this could be the one you need in your life.

It's not too soon to declare that I love this rose gold compact and its magic within - a powder with a skin perfecting finish. Every time I reach for this, I know it will help me look and feel my best. I can't say yet if it will make me strike off every other powder that I love but I do know I am so glad I gave in and bought this.

What I love most about these two products is that I don't feel pangs of guilt when using them as you might expect given their hefty price tags. I feel like if the products didn't perform as well as they do I would harbour some resentment and regret but I don't and that makes me even more pleased to have them in my arsenal.
