The New Liquid Lipsticks In My Collection

colourpop fall collection, fiinx uk matte lip creams, ofra liquid lipsticks

While I work hard on reducing my makeup collection, it seems that liquid lipsticks don't abide by the same laws. There have been quite a few added to my stash recently (with some more on the way...!) so I thought a quick catch up was in order. Here are the new liquid lippies that have joined the ranks over the last few weeks:

OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick - Americano, Pasadena | $19.90

If you've spent 2 minutes browsing makeup on Instagram you will most likely have heard of Ofra. And their liquid lipstick formula has been rated as among the best by some. Had it not been for a bout of insomnia and binge watching lip swatch videos on YouTube I still wouldn't be in possession of these lipsticks. And now that I've tried them, I can say just how terrible that would be. The formula is everything you could want - pigmented, creamy, tolerable scent, applies evenly, dries matte but doesn't dry out lips, long lasting, doesn't settle into lines, doesn't flake off or crumble, can be layered, can purse lips together without causing any drama - and I can't wait to get my hands on some more. On top of this the shipping was super fast, they always have a 30% discount code on offer and the packaging is sturdy and attractive.

Pasadena is a pinky brown shade that is a perfect MLBB choice for me and even though Americano contains some random shimmer particles in it (you can't really see it on the lips unless you stand in direct sunlight) it is a beautiful orangey brown nude shade that I can't get enough of. They remind me a lot of Jouer Long Wear Lip Cremes and kind of what I always hoped NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams would be.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick - Sandstorm | £6.50

If you read The NYX Liquid Lipstick Round-Up, you'll know I rate the Liquid Suede formula as the best of the ones NYX offers but is sadly let down by the lack of appealing shades. Sandstorm is the only other shade that appealed to me other than the famous Soft SpokenNow that I have it, I can't say it wows me the way I expected it to. I don't find it as pigmented as or as long lasting. The shade is an interesting cool beige nude that works with a dark lip liner on my complexion but otherwise makes me look corpse-like and ill. It's a great colour to experiment with and create other shades though.

theBalm Meet Matte Hughes - Charming | £13.50

I don't know if it's the menthol, minty scent or the tingly sensation that make these such a pleasure to use. After making the shocking decision to buy the gorgeous Trustworthy (see swatch here) first, I always knew I would still have to pick up Charming - that rosy mauve shade that everyone loves. And I'm so glad I finally have. The formula is the same and while these do tend to make my lips feel a little dry and start flaking off and disappearing after a few hours, I still rank them highly. Again, I don't know if it's the refreshing scent or the subtle tingle that does it for me but I love them.

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips - Tansy, Frick 'N Frack | $6

So many bloggers have highly praised the ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips formula and after buying Echo Park (see swatch here) just to test it out for myself, I have to say I agree. I added 2 more shades to my collection as these lipsticks are long lasting without any of that pesky dryness that regular liquid lipsticks are prone to. On my dry lips they appear matte too giving me the best of both worlds. The lovely Dagmara (Mummy's Beauty Corner) has always told me that I'd love Frick 'N Frack and I have to admit, it was love at first application. Tansy was a brave choice for me and I'm shocking myself here but brown lips are definitely growing on me with every passing day (Read: Top 3 Brown Lipsticks for Beginners).

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips - Love Bug, Viper | $5

I also received two free ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips as part of a promotion which gave a sneak peek of some of the Fall Collection shades. I chose Love Bug - a beautiful terracotta shade and Viper - a deep berry rose. Personally, Viper appears a little more purple than I'd like even though it is a shade I can work with. Love Bug is an undeniably gorgeous shade but I don't know if I'm ready to venture into such a bold, striking shade just yet so it's heading to my sister soon.

Fiinx UK Matte Lip Creams* | £8

As a mother of three young children myself, I find myself in awe of the wonderful lady behind this new British fashion and beauty brand. She juggles her busy family life and her growing business and has recently launched her own line of liquid lipsticks. They're super pigmented, last a long (long!!!) time on the lips and the shade range she has selected is not only appealing, it's helping me venture to shades I normally steer clear of. The mousse-like texture is very similar to NYX Lip Lingeries and they dry to a complete matte finish.

I have very dry lips so I need to prep my lips properly to get the best out of these - properly exfoliate them with a scrub & moisturise them with a nourishing lip balm - otherwise they do dry out my lips and start settling into lines. Otherwise they last for hours as long as you don't eat (who doesn't eat for hours???) and the colours are so great for the upcoming seasons.

What is your favourite liquid lipstick formula? Have you tried any of these? What kinds of shades do you steer towards? Let me know...
