best summer blushes for oily medium asian tan NC40 skin

top blushers for summer - charlotte tilbury ecstasy swatches, jouer cosmetics peony blush, milani tea rose swatch review

While some are starting to get ready for Autumn, I'm slowly catching up with this fast progressing year and finally able to write 2016 without having to cross out 2015 every time. And for me Summer is in full swing, so I thought I'd share my summer makeup picks. I'm splitting it into two parts, one for blushers and another for lipsticks so keep an eye out for that post soon.

NATURAL COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTER STICK - Copper Glow* | post | £1.99

I'm kick-starting this summer cheek ensemble with my newly found addiction to shimmer. This creamy formula is great for a quick wipe and swipe of colour to brighten the complexion and get glowing. I'm loving the peachy pink shade and the golden shimmer really works with my warm skin tone. It lasts well on the skin though I do like to use a matte blusher over this sometimes to tone down the shimmer and set it in place.

KIKO VELVET TOUCH CREAMY STICK BLUSH - 05 Camellia Red | post £7.90

Possibly my favourite cream blush formula ever, this giant stick is easy to apply, blend and leaves a luminous finish on the face. Apart from the twist-up mechanism that doesn't twist back down quite so well, this is one of my favourite products I've tried from this incredible Italian cosmetics brand. The shade I have is another peachy pink that looks fresh on the face.

MILANI ROSE POWDER BLUSH - Tea Rose | post | £8.99

I've been obsessed with this blusher since it entered my life. If the packaging and design isn't enough to get my heart racing, this beautiful matte dusky pink brightens up my day. It applies so well, without any chalkiness, and stays put quite well making it perfect for my oily skin in summer. This shade is easy to wear with any look and would work on any skin tone which makes me love it even more.

JOUER COSMETICS MINERAL POWDER BLUSH - Peony | post | $26 (I can't seem to find a UK retailer at this point in time but I purchased it from Cult Beauty last year)

This rectangular feature looks incredibly vibrant in the pan but in actual fact, when applied lightly to the apples of the cheeks, it can mimic a naturally flushed complexion that is youthful and radiant. It's a perfect shade for summer as a bright pop of colour. The formula is a lovely finely milled powder that is pigmented and silky smooth. It lasts for hours without appearing patchy or disappearing which is always a bonus.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY CHEEK TO CHIC - Ecstasy | post | £30

This two part love story housed in luxury packaging is a gorgeous way to perk up the face by adding a little colour and a subtle luminescence. The pink mauve shade for the cheek bones is paired with a stunning peachy coral pink for a pop of colour and a slight sheen that really helps to make the face look radiant. If summer were a blusher, it would be this shade. The formula isn't the longest lasting on my summer skin but I definitely feel like I look like a million bucks when I use this. So that must count for something, right?

Stay tuned for my Top 5 Summer Lipsticks post which I'll be putting up very soon. In the meantime, let me know what your go-to blush has been this summer.

Do you spot anything here that you love or that you'd love to try? If you could only wear one blusher for the rest of the season, which would it be and why?

  5. Oh I agree with the Kiko Blusher! I absolutely love mine. I thought it was just my blusher that didn't twist back down so well, I guess I'm not the only one that has trouble with it, quite annoying really.
