top 10 holy grail makeup products for NC40 medium indian asian olive skin

[Holy Grail: an annoying but ubiquitous term now referring to a beauty product that has out-performed all other contenders in the same category and has thereby reached optimum status in one's life, where one feels one could not survive without said product]

I rarely ever post makeup menus on here as I usually do my Makeup Of The Day posts over on Instagram but I recently saw a few of my fellow bloggers doing an interesting challenge:
'If I Could Only Keep 10 Items Of Makeup' (read Ms. Tantrum's post here).

I decided to change it up a little and create a whole look, a full face of makeup, using 10 products I consider to be Holy Grail - the ones that I can always count on, the ones that I would never wish to be without - and create a Makeup Menu with the challenge. I hope you enjoy it :)

top 10 best makeup products for oily combination medium skintones

1. Primer

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer | post | £10

This is the primer I reach for before all others because I love the emollient texture, it feels moisturising on my skin and it makes my makeup last all day. It helps to keep my face shine-free for longer too. Sometimes I use this without any makeup because it looks and feels so good.

2. Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - Cashew | post | £30

I find myself reaching for this classic foundation whenever I have to attend a social gathering that will last longer than a couple of hours. It's not only long-lasting, matte and medium-full coverage, it is also a decent match for me making it my go-to base.

3. Concealer

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer | post | £17.50

This is a newer addition to my collection and I genuinely feel regret every time I use it for not purchasing this sooner. Its so creamy and easy to blend. It isn't prone to any unnecessary creasing, looks radiant on the skin and lasts all day.

4. Brows

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows Brow Gel - Cara | post | £18.50

Another recent addition that has blown my mind, this eyebrow gel has the tiniest little brush and is able to brush through even the smallest of hairs that I can't even see. The result is beautiful, full brows that look natural.

5. Setting Powder, Bronzer, Highlighter, Blusher

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit | post

So yes, I cheated a little with this choice of 4 in 1 but in all honesty, this palette has the complexion covered and does it so beautifully too. Dim Light makes for an excellent, radiant setting powder that doesn't look cakey and leaves my face looking lit from within. The rest of the shades & options are all gorgeous and I would never want to be without this palette. I mean, look at it...its stunning!

6. Eyeshadow

Maybelline Color Tattoo - Creamy Beige | post | £4.99

As you know, I'm not too big on the shadows. I like a little something, I will occasionally play around with some crease shades or smokey looks, but for my holy grail it is this little number that could easily be overlooked. Its an easily blended cream shade that slightly brightens my eye lids, looks natural but has a beautiful sheen when it catches the light.

7. Eye Pencil

Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl - Cocoa Bean | post | £5

I will always use a pencil liner on my upper and lower lash line and my first choice is always a brown shade for a more subtle look. This pencil is pigmented, glides on and stays put. I always carry one around with me for all my eyeliner emergencies!

8. Eye Liner

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner - Carbon Black | post | £14

With a felt nib that is both flexible and sturdy all at once, this liner quickly took the top spot for me. Its super black, applies really easily and genuinely makes it so easy to achieve any style of winged liner, be it thick or thin.

9. Mascara

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | post | £7.99

This mascara really opens up my eyes, lengthens, volumises and give an added curl to my lashes in a way that no other mascara does for me. I always reach for this when I want my lashes to look their best.

10. Lipstick

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick - Lolita | post | $20

Personally, the formula is unmatched by anything else in my collection as it is long-lasting, pigmented, matte and doesn't dry out my lips. Additionally, the shade is a safe choice for any event being a deep nude shade that works with any look and outfit. I've used this so many times for so many big occasions.

  1. I love reading people's holy grail products, it makes me realise how many I'm missing! I really want to pick up a hourglass ambient lighting palette, the powders just sound so luxurious! I have to agree on the maybelline mascara, although it can be clumpy for the first few applications, after a while it definitely trumps a lot of the high end mascaras I've tried! xx
