best haircare products for dry, fine hair

As much as I love chopping and changing my makeup and skincare products daily, with hair products I tend to stick to the same things until they're used up. I'd say the only things that get changed often are my hair masks/treatments and hair oils. So here are my recent haircare heroes:

PRE-WASH

At least once a week, I like to use a pre-wash hair treatment or mask. I have extremely dry hair while my scalp gets super greasy, super quickly so I find applying an oil mask before washing to my mid lengths to ends helps inject extra moisture into my hair, making it a little more manageable and less frizzy. Currently I'm back to loving good old coconut oil. It's smells divine, nourishes the hair beautifully and is completely natural. I'm using Neal's Yard Coconut Oil | £9 which is pure, cold-pressed and unrefined so I'm assured of getting the best out of the natural properties.

WASH

I've had some horrific experiences with volumising hair cleansers in the past, which I generally find harsh, drying and leave my already dry hair stripped and aggravated. But OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo & Conditioner* | £6.99 each have turned that around for me. Aside from the fact that they smell gorgeous, together they cleanse the scalp thoroughly while leaving my hair feeling smooth and thick. I don't know how it works exactly but it feels like I have much more hair than I do and it looks healthier too. For more immediate results, I've been opting for the divinely scented Neal & Wolf Harmony Treatment* | £13.50 which makes my hair smooth and manageable, gets it perfectly prepped for styling and I'm left with hair that looks and feels stunning. I leave it on clean, wet hair for a few minutes and after rinsing my hair is luscious, healthy-looking and shiny.

POST-WASH

As I mentioned, I have really dry ends and after washing I use some sort of hair oil to get things under control. My favourite hair oil right now is Neal & Wolf Velvet* | £14.95 which I use either on towel-dried hair or while my hair is still a little damp. It can be a little heavy on dry hair but a little applied while there's still some moisture in the hair really helps to tame every strand so there are no fly-aways or frizz. The signature Neal & Wolf scent, designed by a world class perfumery, lingers for a long time which makes it all the more special.

TOOLS

I've been loving using Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Tool* | post | $149 to straighten or curl my hair. It's light-weight which makes it such a breeze to use and has actually been the biggest factor in me using this tool so often. I'm also obsessed with The Wet Brush | £11.99 which I bought for my daughters, who always end up in tears when it comes to brushing their hair. This brush just makes the whole ordeal quicker as I need less brush strokes to get the whole head of hair done. Luckily I bought 2 of them so I've slightly adopted one as my own.

  1. As much as I take care of my skin I'm really poorly looking after my hair, haha! Thankfully it's not in bad condition. And yes, I stick to the same products until they're finished and then I might try something new. I just use shampoo and conditioner and then some heat protectant to blow them dry. The simplest routine ever, lol! x

  3. I recently found OGX is available at drugstore in my office building, and I can't wait to try them, maybe after I run out of my current hair wash.

  4. I've tried two OGX shampoos and didn't really love either of them but so many people rave about them so maybe I need to try a different one! I always use masks, oils, heat protectors, finishing sprays - the works! Still doesn't mean that I'm really happy with my hair but I think the meds I am on don't help so I am always on the lookout for products that will help my hair to look and feel better! xx
