The Beauty Lover Tag

ummbaby beauty

Thank you to the wonderful Leanne (LPage Beauty) for this wonderful tag. It's been a while since I've been tagged to do a post that genuinely excites me. I love reading tag posts because it gives you the chance to get to know people a bit better as their personalities show through a bit more.

So if you do this too, please tweet me as I'd love to have a read ;)

If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup who would it be?

Given that I spend a lot of time on Instagram, I get to see the work of so many talented individuals, transforming regular people into glamourous dolls. I'd love to have my makeup done by @dreamingdahliaa whose full-coverage style is so unique and striking and for a more natural look of course it would have to be Mary Greenwell. I want that glow of eternal youth she gives to Cate Blanchett! ;)

Whats your makeup top tip?

If you have large open pores or a really oily t-zone, like myself, I find applying a mattifying powder in small sections more effective than dusting over the whole face. Also, I'm going to sneak in another tip and it's to apply highlighter before blush to get a more seamless gradient rather than a block of blusher and a strip of highlighter.

What makeup product could you not live without?

Eyeliner. I just couldn't be me without it. Just let me be me with my kohl eyes!

What Skincare Product could you not live without?

This is really tough because there are so many things I deem absolutely obligatory in my life. Moisturiser is a must, for every specific area of concern so one for my face, another for my eyes, one for lips and one for my hands. I don't think I could live without a cleanser either or a facial oil.

What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?

Even after so many years of using mascara, I still seem to hit the corner of nose with the wand most of the time. So annoying.

What's your biggest pet peeve about makeup?

I hate that it's still such a struggle to get base/concealer shades that match me perfectly or suit my skin tone. It's always a gamble and it genuinely is a shock when something works. This shouldn't be the case now, come on!

What is your favourite makeup era?

I'm going to say high society Regency makeup. I'm kidding. I really like the makeup style of Old Bollywood in the late 50s and 60s where a matte complexion was paired with a bold liner. It appears glam but simple and yet something I would struggle to achieve myself. Haha!

Whats your Guilty Pleasure Product?

Even though I have so many wonderful brushes, I'm addicted to buying cheap knock off brushes from any random seller in Hong Kong! Some are misses, some are hits but it's so addictive! I need to stop though. Hahaha!

Whats your underdog product?

It's got to be my beloved Garnier BB Cream which doesn't look as fancy as other products and I don't reach for it as often because I know it works and always has my back...if that makes any sense whatsoever. Haha!

Whats your favourite Makeup product of 2015?

I couldn't choose any one product from last year and if you want to see my favourites from each category you can read >>> 2015 Makeup Favourites. But I still can't believe I own the Hourglass Ambient Edit which is absolutely stunning.

  2. I'll let you be with your kohl eyes, haha! Loved reading this, Sal! I also apply highlighter before blushes, I often find that the intensity of my blush disappear if I put highlighter on top so have to re-touch it anyway. x
