April Empties + Mini Reviews

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

It's finally time to clear out that box of empties and put everything in the recycling bin. But before I do, I thought I'd quickly share my thoughts on the products I've managed to use up over the last month. If you read till the end, you will see that there should've been another post similar to this posted back in March of all the things I've used up since the beginning of this year, but alas it was never meant to be.

MAKEUP

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Pressed Powder | review | £12

I managed to finish up the last remaining crumbs of this even though that stage took a while. This is a buttery soft setting powder that melts into the skin and keeps my under-eye concealer in place all day while providing some slight highlighting too.

Repurchase? Yes, already have and will again for sure!

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil - Hot Chocolate | review | £8

I love this brow pencil which isn't just a great shade for my dark but sparse brows, but also lets me create a beautiful, natural looking defined brow within minutes.

Repurchase? Most definitely.

Bobbi Brown Eye Makeup Remover | £18

I've had this mini bottle for a while, reserving it only for days when I went all out with gel liner on my eyelids, tight line, water line and lower lash line. It does what it says on the tin with some added theatre of the two oils mixing together.

Repurchase? There are far too many effective and affordable eye makeup removers available to justify this, so no.

SKINCARE

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel | £29.50

I debated whether or not to get the Anna & Lily Cult Beauty Box, which contains a full-size of this, but eventually decided against it. This cleanser is lovely but not special enough to justify that price in my opinion.

Repurchase? I doubt it.

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Peel Pads | £70
I was kindly gifted a few of these by Hidden Harmony World and, I exaggerate not when I say, the effect of these was noticeable just after this one treatment. I woke up to beautifully radiant, smooth skin that looked happy and felt healthy.

Repurchase? Yes! One day...saving up for these big time!

Skin Republic Collagen Hydrogel Under Eye Patch | £5.99
I am so impressed with the results of these. I have a deep line under each eye and these definitely made them appear more plumped out and less pronounced.

Repurchase? Yes, especially for before doing my makeup for special occasions.

Avene Hydrance Optimale Riche | £13.50
This moisturiser really came to the rescue during the cold weather, when my skin is extremely dehydrated. It a very emollient cream that moisturises the skin and keeps it hydrated throughout the day.

Repurchase? Perhaps, next winter.

HANDS

Inecto Naturals Argan Hand & Nail Cream | £1

I picked this up because I liked the packaging and it's a brand I'd never seen before. This hand cream does nothing for extremely dry hands like mine. So within minutes my hands are dry again and yearning for some moisture.

Repurchase? No, and I still have the Coconut version of this to use up too.

Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream | Review£4

This is a beautiful smelling, light-weight cream that provides excellent hydration and moisture for my hands without leaving them greasy.

Repurchase? Yes, already have back-ups.

LIPS

Caudalie Lip Conditioner | £5.50

There's nothing too special about this lip balm to be honest. It creates a layer of protection but provides little moisture or hydration and doesn't last very long on the lips. I use this a lot on my girls because the stick is so easy to carry around and quickly apply.

Repurchase? No.

Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balm - Red Dahlia | £5.99

I love how this is decently tinted so there is some decent colour pay-off on my pigmented lips and keeps my lips hydrated and happy. The only thing I don't like is how glossy and slippery this is, meaning it doesn't last very long.

Repurchase? Yes.

The Post That Never Was & Never Will Be

I don't know why I always struggle with Monthly Favourites and Empties posts. Here is an empties post that will never be of all the things I had used up since January that I never got around to publishing. I always just seem to find something else to write about instead.

Have I mentioned any of your favourite products? What have you use up recently that you're delighted/distraught about? How do you stay organised with regularly posting empties/monthly faves? Let me know...xxx

  3. I'm the same, I collect empties and then put them in the bin cause there are too many and I have no desire to write about them, haha! Having said that I just collected a few empty things and will be talking about them tomorrow, lol!
I really like the Oskia cleanser but I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it cause at the end of the day it's just a cleanser and it doesn't stay on the skin long enough to make a real difference. x

  7. I love the Soap and Glory Archery Pencil but it's so damn hard to find in the darker shade!! I've used the blonde shade and actually preferred it for light makeup days though. You've also just reminded me I have a hand cream I need to finish before it goes off as well, thank you!
