LA Girl Pro Concealer review with Pure Beige, Creamy Beige and Orange Corrector NC40 swatch

Last year I finally got my hands on the immensely popular L.A. Girl Pro Concealers and more recently I added a few new shades to my small collection, including one of their correctors, so I thought a dedicated review post was in order. A lot of people swear by these little affordable tubes for a multitude of makeup steps whilst others are increasingly curious about how well they perform and what they are comparable to. I hope this post helps you decide if they're worth the hype.

Packaged very simply in coloured tubes in corresponding shades to the product, they have a brush tip that allows ease of application and a fair amount of precision. Sometimes a light watery liquid is secreted but I find that giving the tube a good squeeze before unscrewing the lid helps get rid of this problem.

The L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer is a thick, creamy product that is highly pigmented and most definitely a full coverage product. Because the product is so pigmented, blending it out with my finger isn't enough to evenly spread it around. Even though a brush does a decent job I find the best tool is a damp sponge. It allows the product to be applied without streaks or patches and blends the edges for a flawless base.

What I love most about this concealer is how easy it is to use and how effectively it conceals. No extra effort or layering is necessary because it just does its job and really well. Once it's set in place with a powder, I find it lasts all day and although I get slight creasing (this is a general problem for me with all products) it's incredibly comfortable. I also love how the formula is as close to Poly-Filler for the face as I've ever experienced, filling in my pores and making them non-existent for a few hours! :)

Onto the shades and it's so refreshing to be able to write about something that is available in a large, sensible and realistic range of shades. I'm not sure about how well it caters for the fairest skin tones, but this product comes in more darker shades than I've seen offered in foundations from any other affordable brand *round of applause for the acknowledgment of other human skin tones*!!! I have 5 shades in total, 2 of which I bought last year despite the fact that the 2 shades I wanted (popular online with girls of a similar complexion) were not in stock.

  • Nude: This is peachy toned and works great as a colour correcting concealer for me. I can use this on its own and get away with it.
  • Medium Beige: As you can probably tell from the swatch, this is almost identical to my actual skin colour therefore it does conceal but isn't brightening at all. I like using this on blemishes or all over my face as a foundation.
  • Pure Beige: This is a perfect concealer shade for me. It's lighter than my skin so it conceals and brightens all in one without being obvious.
  • Creamy Beige: This is much lighter but works amazingly on me as a highlighter for under eyes, bridge of the nose etc. It is flattering but thankfully not outrageous.
  • Orange Corrector: This is so intensely pigmented that personally I'm still struggling to use this in a way that covers the orange. But I have high hopes because there are so many people that use this regularly and swear by it.

Here in the UK we can buy these at BeautyBase stores where they retail for £5 a piece, but there are a multitude of sellers on eBay who offer even better deals. I bought mine from this seller on eBay: vickyfrederick2015 and at that time I payed between £3.20 - £3.60 per tube. Can you say BARGAIN?!?

Overall, I'm really impressed with this product and I love how versatile it is. They're great for a base product for the whole face or concealing, highlighting, colour correcting and also I'm looking forward to picking up some darker shades to use as cream contours. They're absolute gems that totally deserve the hype and for the way they perform, I would be happy to pay so much more for them. (I am glad of course that I don't!)

    2. I had the same problem! The orange kept peeking through, so I thought I would get the yellow corrector (as I'm olive skin-toned) however my dark circles are too dark for the yellow to fully cover. THEN I had an idea - I mixed the yellow and orange concealers into a spare sample pot I have, and voila, the perfect shade of salmon corrector with nothing going to waste! I just dab a tiny bit on with a brush, let it dry and then add my concealer on top.

  2. I won this quite recently in a giveaway and I was amazed by how much it fills my pores in too! It's like a two-in-one-product lol. I never knew there was an orange corrector version of it! I might have to pick that up now xx

  6. I feel like I definitely need to dig these out and give them a proper go! I got a few as they had shades I could wear at a good price but I kind of struggled to get enough product out and gave up. I will give them a fair try this month I think :) xx

    1. Yeh it can be a little hit and miss with the tubes. Some of them are filled up with product while others annoyingly are mostly air. Once you do manage to get it out I do think the formula is one of the better ones out there xxx

  8. I absolutely love the formula of this concealer, it's amazing for the price. I just wish that the lightest shade was pale enough for me - I can't get it to work no matter how hard I try. x

    1. Oh NO!!!!! Seriously? They did so well on the darker shades I was hoping someone would tell me they are just as awesome for the lightest shades. The formula is great too which makes it such a shame xxx

  9. I bought one of these online a while ago and unfortunately I never reach for it because it's incredibly pink toned :( I do love the coverage though and after reading this I think I'll have to pick up one that actually matches me, you can't complain for the price vs. how long it lasts.
