makeup and beauty flatlay

After an abysmal start to my beauty spending ban last month, I decided to keep up the momentum by stalking the aisles of Boots and Superdrug, picking up and ordering a few favourites and some lovely new bits to try. It's mostly skincare which makes me feel like I haven't completely strayed from the ban...I don't know why when I clearly have :/

MAKEUP

soap and glory archery brow putty dark chocolate

Soap & Glory released some new makeup bits and if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen me all giddy about these. I picked up the new Archery Brow Putty Dip & Brush - Dark Chocolate £10 which comes with a brush I'm not convinced by but I am excited to try this nevertheless. And the super cute Sexy Mother Pucker Matte Lip - Chocoberry £3.50 which seems like the only shade from the bunch I'd actually enjoy wearing. I really want to get my hands on the Glow All Out Cream Highlight & Sculpt Cheek Stick but it was out of stock at the time. So instead of waiting around miserably, I picked up another Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder £12 as my current one is taking its very last breaths as we speak.

The other makeup item I finally have become the proud owner of is the much hyped NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick - Soft Spoken £6.50. It is a beautiful muted rose with a hint of peach and brown so basically my dream shade in liquid lipstick form. I have been wearing this non-stop since I got it. It is so beautiful!!!

SKINCARE

What was meant to only be a couple of repurchases turned into ticking off a fair few items from my highstreet skincare wish list.

top affordable budget facial oils

I have been using Boots Botanics 100% Organic Facial Oil £9.99 for 3 years now and I can't even recall which number bottle this is. I can't seem to be without it in my stash especially because I've grown rather sentimental towards its delicate rose scent, and think of it as that old friend I could never abandon. I also repurchased Super Facialist Neroli Illiminate Eye Cream £12.99 which I've mentioned before here

Botanics Hydration Burst Moisture Lotion

Next I come onto a whole bunch of stuff that I can whole-heartedly blame other beauty bloggers for!

Because it was mentioned by Sali Hughes I ordered Good Things Argan Oil Perfecting Facial Oil £6.99, which is a very light textured oil that smells sweet and absorbs quickly into the skin. I like it so far although the watery texture is quite strange compared to some of the other facial oils I have. Still, a bit of a budget beauty gem if you ask me.

Onto my Instagram enablers and even though I'm a huge Botanics fan, the new Hydration Burst range pretty much escaped my attention until I saw this review by Maiyabellexo of Botanics Hydration Burst Dual Action Cleanser £5.99. A melting gel cleanser that turns into an oil and emulsifies beautifully upon contact with water? Yes please!!! I used it as soon as I bought it home and it was love, instantly. Another product from the same range was featured by Dana Louise in her drugstore skincare haul video and seriously I only bought it because I thought the pump was fancy-looking. I am so glad I did because Botanics Hydration Burst Day Lotion £7.99 is lightweight but really delivers a huge helping of hydration while making my skin feel smoother too.

Finally as loved by Hidden Harmony World is the Super Facialist Neroli Super Lift Night Cream £16.99. After being disappointed in the light texture and general blah-ness of the Super Facialist Probiotic night cream, I decided to pick up this beautiful jar of anti-ageing promises. If HHW loves it, I'm sure I will despite not being a fan of the scent as such.

good things, super facialist, botanics

BODYCARE

Finally onto some body bits and the real reason I even went shopping last week which was to stock up on Mitchum Advanced Control Deodorant Sticks £3.35 which were on offer for 2 for £4 at Superdrug. I am so obsessed with these and with good reason. Never before in my life have I come across a deodorant or anti-perspirant that actually lasted more than a couple of hours. Both scents are equally lovely and stop me from sweating (we're all friends here, that's not TMI surely?!!) and keep me smelling fresh till the night. If you haven't tried these already, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do!

And a complete random purchase saw me deciding to give Soap & Glory a break and try out Superdrug Body Butter - Coconut & Orchid £3.99. Since I love their Vitamin E skincare range, I have high hopes for this and actually quite excited to try something different for a change.

So there you have my shameful beauty haul from last week despite being on a ban apparently. As always, I'm happy to have so many new goodies to introduce into my routines while simultaneously feeling like I have let myself down by not sticking to my ban. Oh well, another month is here so I can try again.

Have you bought anything new and exciting recently? Have you tried any of these things? How do you like them? Let me know in the comments below. Till next time...
