makeup flatlay

Hi guys! *insert any of the cliché "where did the month go" lines here* But seriously though, it seems strange that January has come and gone. I had much to celebrate this month with the arrival of my little baby neice! <3 And of course I had much to feel guilty about as I broke my beauty spending ban again and again...and again. Oops! Regardless, this month I've had some definite favourites that I want to share with you all.

nyx, pixi glow mud cleanser, sleek matte me, lancome, superfacialist, kiko, too faced.

SKINCARE

The stand out product for me and a complete game-changer in my life is PIXI Glow Mud Cleanser | £18 which is a generous 135ml tube of goodness. It contains 5% glycolic acid along with hyaluronic acid, avocado oil and clay making it an effective cleanser that doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped, but rather glowing, bright and plump. This cleanser has gotten me obsessed with double cleansing. I've always said I like to double cleanse when it's a choice and not because a cleanser renders it necessary (it happens!) but this makes me WANT to double cleanse. For a thorough review, please click here to see what the wonderful Hidden Harmony World thinks of it.

My other skincare favourite this month past has been SuperFacialist Neroli Illuminate Eye Cream | £12.99 which is a great morning eye cream for me. It contains hyaluronic acid, shea butter and caffeine extract and I find it leaves my eye area smoother while the tightening effect really forces my eyes wide open.

MAKEUP

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I've crowned Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer | £10 as the best primer ever!!! I love that it is a mattifying primer that doesn't dry out my face nor does it have that slick, slippery texture of some other primers. It feels like a hydrating moisturiser to apply, it doesn't move around and makes my makeup last for hours longer.

I'm still obsessed with my 2014 & 2015 favourite foundation - Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H | £29.50 which I still can't believe doesn't get more hype. It's a long lasting, medium to full coverage foundation, with a velvet matte finish that looks like the skin we wished we aged with, available in a beautiful extensive range of shades. I recommend everyone going to a Lancôme counter and getting a sample because it needs to be experienced to understand how incredible it is!

For my eyes, this month I've really enjoyed playing around with Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Palette | £32 which was part of my Sephora haul. Even though I don't tend to wear eyeshadows on a daily basis I'm convinced this palette was designed with me in mind ;) because every colour is beautiful and versatile with a lovely texture that is easy to work with. The combinations are endless and the overall effect every time I've used this has been stunning.

I've also been loving KIKO Crystal Liner - 03 Reflect Burgundy, which is sadly now unavailable as it was part of last year's Generation Next collection. It's a gorgeous deep brown shade with a burgundy sheen to it. It is long lasting and smudge-proof and makes the most incredible eyeliner for my lower lash-line. It hasn't got the intensity of black and isn't as blah as a brown liner can be. If KIKO ever release another liner in this shade, in stocking up!

As much as I love a good blusher, I always find myself coming back to my ultimate favourite, not understanding how I ever reached for anything else instead. Of course it's my beloved Bobbi Brown Blush - Tawny | £22 which is a beautiful muted pinky brown matte shade. If you're of a medium complexion and you're looking for a blusher that looks natural, you will really appreciate the beauty of Tawny, which works on lots of different skintones too.

Onto lip products and I have really fought with myself to keep it only at two products. When I first got and reviewed NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams | £5.50 (read here) I remember being a little bit disappointed with the shade Abu Dhabi. Nowadays I can't seem to leave my lipstick alone without adding a layer of this peachy brown cream on top to mute the colour and achieve a beautiful nude shade.

I have also been obsessed with the infamous Sleek Matte Me - Birthday Suit | £4.99 which I finally picked up. This peachy pink liquid lipstick dries completely matte, doesn't move around and gives me that beautiful peach lip that I've always envied on other girls but because of my hyperpigmented lips, I had come to accept that it would never be achievable for me. So thanks Sleek! I also love putting this on top of every lipstick I wear. It's just gorgeous!

TOOLS

My final favourite is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge | £5.99 because I've been reaching for it a lot these past few weeks. It always helps make my makeup look flawless, especially under my eyes and around my nose, where a brush just doesn't seem to do the job properly. I feel like I'm becoming so dependent on this sponge that should anything happen to it, I wouldn't even bother putting on makeup for fear of it looking so bad.

I'm looking forward to being really good in February - lots of new goodies that I'm trying out and growing to love, and hopefully I will not be spending any money on makeup so I can fully deserve a treat at the end of the month. LOL! Do you spot any faves or anything you would love to try? Let me know in the comments below or tweet me. As always, you're more than welcome to come and say hi to me on my Instagram.
