My Winter Essentials

Monday, January 04, 2016

It's seems that we had a week or so of bitter winter cold a couple of months ago, and since then we've been blessed with a warm, albeit windy, winter. But as is the way with these things, I feel the chill is returning and so I find myself seeking out a few comforts to keep me going along with my hot cups of tea.

Firstly, a complete essential for me is winter booties! I barely see my feet in the winter because I have them tucked up and cosy in fluffy socks and cute booties for the whole season. This year, I went for a red plaid pair from Deichmann which I've already nearly worn out so I'm super chuffed that Hubby also picked me up a pair matching our new Vinter 2015 duvet set from IKEA (they're so cute I can overlook how weird that is!!!). The print is simple but festive and as soft as you'd like to wear!!! :)

Although hand cream is a must all year round for me, Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream | £14.50 has been keeping my hands soft and soothed this season. It's more like a hand balm in that it's quite a thick texture, which is great for protecting my mitts from the bitter effects of the cold weather. It reminds me a lot of Burt's Bees Shea Butter Hand Cream and smells like essential oils also.

Nothing says its winter quite like long hot soaks in the bath tub and whilst I'm still working my way through my Aromatherapy Oils, I wanted something a little more fun and bubbly this season. I'm so happy to have stumbled across the I Love... Cherry Almond Sparkle Bath And Shower Creme | £2.99 in my local Pound Shop. It smells just like a Mr. Kipling's Cherry Bakewell slice. What could be more seasonal?

It's all about the body butters in the colder months because the skin just needs so much more oomph to stay hydrated and happy and of course my favourite is the classic that is Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter | £10. It smells divine, is thick enough to coat my body in moisturising goodness and lasts, keeping my skin smooth and soft to the touch.

Finally my face, and given that I have dehydrated skin, added moisture is a must for me. Superdrug Vitamin E Leave On Moisture Mask | £2.99, which smells sweet, sits on the skin without sliding off and is wiped off to simply leave supple silky soft skin. And of course, perhaps the most important winter essential of all - lip balm. A year since giving into the hype of Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm | £9.50, and I can testify that there is no other lip balm in the world quite like it. It does what we want all other lip balms to do - nourishes, hydrates and protects the lips - and doesn't need to be used half as often as other lip balms. I usually apply once in the morning and again at night and my lips no longer peel or flake nor do I find myself having to lick them for some relief. Absolutely amazing product that I highly recommend to everyone.
