flatlay of my top 10 makeup products from drugstore that cost £10 or less

Whenever I think about the makeup products that I love and couldn't live without, I am still always blown away by how many of the things I adore are from high-street/drugstore brands. Here I have rounded up my TOP 10 favourite affordable items and also gone ahead and created a full face of glam makeup look ;)

bourjois healthy balance powder, l'oreal true match foundation and maybelline the eraser eye concealer
L'Oreal True Match - N6 Honey / Maybelline The Eraser Eye - Nude / Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - 53 Light Beige

  • 1. I know mine isn't the newly formulated and repackaged version (because obviously I resisted buying it for years & then when I finally did, within weeks it was re-released) but L'Oreal True Match £9.99 is amazing. It's one of those foundations that gives decent coverage and doesn't feel heavy on the face. The finish is beautifully satin and leaves people asking me about my skin every time. Coming in at only 1p below the maximum, I will recommend this to anyone looking for a new foundation before all others, regardless of budget.
  • 2. I've been on a long and winding road with concealers on the high street given that my skin-tone is rarely catered for and my dark circles are not very cooperative. I've found ones that match the colour I need but don't offer enough coverage, or amazing formulas but in an awkward shade. Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye Perfect & Cover Concealer £7.99 is my holy grail drugstore concealer because the consistency is just right, neither too drying or too slippery. It blends in beautifully, especially when one uses a finger or damp sponge, and offers coverage whilst being just highlighting enough. The shade range needs seeing to though.
  • 3. I've controversially claimed that this powder is better than my high-end favourite and I stand by that statement because Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder £8.99 is a pleasure to use every time. It is incredibly finely milled, doesn't sit on the skin in any strange way, mattifies the face without making you look flat and offers a tiny bit of coverage for an added finishing touch. I've yet to encounter another powder that resembles it.

maybelline color tattoo, gel eyeliner, lash sensational mascara and eyebrow pencil
Maybelline Color Tattoo - On & On Bronze and Creamy Beige / Maybelline Gel Liner - Black / Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara / Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil - Hot Chocolate

Eyes & Brows:
  • 4. One sweep of Maybelline Color Tattoo £4.99 over the lids is usuallywhat I go for nowadays, while my powder eyeshadows sit there waiting for a special occasion to get a look in. The formula is creamy and they stay put. Creamy Beige offers a fantastic everyday option or a base while the ever popular On & On Bronze is stunning enough to carry you through an evening of glamour.
  • 5. For me a full face of glam is not complete without a black winged liner and Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner £7.99 is my choice over all other gel liners in this price-range. It glides on, comes with its own handy brush that is pretty decent, and lasts all day.
  • 6. Maybelline are taking this category with 3 out of 4 of the products under their belt since Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara £7.99 has got to be my favourite right now. The curved brush makes it easier to work the product into the lashes, it lifts the lashes giving the illusion of larger eyes with a little bit of a natural looking curl. I have found that now that it is beginning to dry, a lot of product seems to be on the wand, but a quick wipe before application helps those lashes look multiplied.
  • 7. My brows need a good bulking up but I hate that drawn-on look which is why Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush £8 will always be the eyebrow pencil I direct everyone to. Regardless of the fact that it is dinky and comes with its own brush, the shade works on my sparse, dark brow hairs to create the illusion of fuller brows without pasting on a frown. It's retractable making it perfect to travel with and not too pigmented so its really quite hard to get it wrong with this.

sleek face contour kit and max factor creme puff blush
Sleek Face Contour Kit - Medium / Max Factor Creme Puff Blush - Gorgeous Berries & Seductive Pink

Complexion Colour:

  • 8. This is a sneaky choice though some might call it wise, because it's 2 products in 1 and they both happen to be amazing. Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit £6.49 just makes the whole ordeal of contouring & highlighting so easy that you begin to walk around like you're some kind of makeup artist by nature. The contour shade is super pigmented and is beautifully blended into the hollows of the cheeks, creating the illusion of shadow. The highlighter is stunning on the tops of the cheeks, with a slight champagne tone to it. When I use this, it always upgrades my makeup look to wow!
  • 9. It was rather difficult to choose the blusher for this as there are so many good ones, but one stood out as great, and leading the pack of high-street blushes. Max Factor Creme Puff Blush £8.99 are stunning little pieces of art with their marbled, rippled designs incorporating colour and sheen for a lovely discreet glow on the cheeks, with a beautiful range of shades to choose from. The swirled effect means that each time you're getting a different effect from the blusher as it will pick up the pigments differently with each application.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick - Naked Beige (satin) & Blush Pink (matte)

  • 10. Lips is another difficult one because the drugstore has so many great offerings but since this is my list, I must include my favourite and that is Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick £9 which comes with 2 choices of finishes, both of which are great formulas. The satin formula glides on and gives an opaque layer of colour to the lips. The 'matte powder coat' lipsticks are some of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I've ever used as they stay put without drying out the lips. Both smell amazing with packaging that far exceeds their price and a small but varied range of shades to choose from, there is bound to be a shade or two for anyone.
