5 Favourites: Pink Lipstick

flatlay of my current favourite pink lipsticks for asian NC40 indian medium skin tone

When it comes to lipsticks pink is my colour of choice over all else. Yes, red is synonymous with lips and yes, skin-tone appropriate nudes are so in but I am just drawn to pink lips like a moth to a flame. Of course this isn't a simple addiction to see to when you are a brown girl because not all pinks will work and you run the risk of looking very sick or like you've been sucking on a pink Stabilo Highlighter Pen if you don't select carefully.

I find that pink shades with a hint of brown or mauve or peach are the most flattering on me. It is very important that the colour not only be pretty but also fulfil these 'Ideal Pink Lipsticks for My Skin Tone' criteria:
  • It should brighten up my face
  • It should make me feel fun (not formal/serious...I have a growing-up issue ;)
  • It shouldn't wash me out
  • It should look like there's something on my lips
  • It should cover the pigmentation and unevenness of my lips
  • It should make me happy when I see my reflection ;)
Here are my current 5 favourite Pink Lipsticks that work on me very well, and I believe could work just as well on fellow medium/ tan/ olive/ Asian/ Bangladeshi/ Indian/ Pakistani/ NC40 (NC37-42) skin toned ladies:

gerard cosmetics, kiko intensely lavish, mac mehr, soap and glory sexy mother pucker lipstick and sephora matte lip cream

gerard cosmetics rodeo drive, kiko intensely lavish 01 lusty peony, mac matte lipstick mehr, sephora cream lip stain 13 marvelous mauve, soap and glory sexy mother pucker lipstick blush pink

A pretty pink that is comfortable to wear and is about as light I could pull off in pink, I think.

My new found love; a creamy peachy pink that brightens the complexion instantly.

MAC Matte Lipstick - Mehr
My favourite of these, this can be slightly less easy to pull off given that its a blue-toned pink but luckily for me it fulfills all of my criteria to perfection.

A beautifully deep mauve pink that lasts all day and makes me happy.

A comfortable matte pink that would suit a host of different skin tones.

I could easily only wear pink lipsticks for the rest of my life. No matter what look I do, these lipsticks seem to always work and make me happy. And now that I have a trustworthy collection of some of the prettiest pinks that suit me, I feel like I can sleep peacefully at night ;)

If you have any suggestions of pink lipsticks for me to get my hands on, that would work with my complexion, please leave a comment below. Also if you've tried any of my current favourite pink lipsticks let me know if you love them too. Feel free to tweet me or come say on my Instagram ...

  6. Definitely agree with you here! There have been so many occasions where I'm really trying to force a shade to work when it really doesn't match my skin tone and I have to top it up with a pink based lippy to bring my face back to life haha! Love the collection x

    1. Hahahahaha! Oh gosh...we've all been there. There was a time when I would run out and buy every colour recommended by Fleur De Force. Took me ages to realise why it didn't look the same on my NC40 face as it did on hers :) lol!
      Thanks lovely xxx

    1. Jasmine, if you can get your hands on Marvelous Mauve any time soon, get it! I know you will love it. On my skin it really does appear just like Mehr which is always a plus, especially for us that collect the same shades from every brand...lol (I know you do it too) xxx

  8. Absolutely love this post! Gorgeous colours!! I'd also suggest swatching "Nude-ist" from bourjois (https://www.boots.com/en/Bourjois-Rouge-Edition-Velvet-lipstick_1459266/) as that's a gorgeous lip colour similar to these that's highstreet price :)

  9. This is a great post! I find that most classic nudes that people go for never seem to suit me either, so these options are perfect. i couldn't decide on a favourite but I love the KIKO offering :)

    1. Thank you so much. Yup...due to my pigmented lips I steer clear of beige nude lips. The KIKO one is dreamy...but then I obviously love them all. Haha xxx

    1. MAC Mehr is just...well I don't need to go on about it anymore. If you do check out S&G lipsticks, I think PomPom, Super Nude & Perfect Day will look fabulous on you. Gerard Cosmetics lippies are lovely, but I don't get why they have such a hefty price tag to be honest hahaha!

Aww thank you so much for saying so, it really means a lot!!! xxx
